NV215 + what head?

My new to me NV215 is sitting crated up in the lobby, waiting for 5pm to roll around...

On had, I have:
TFB550B, Mesa Walkabout and M-Pulse 600, SWT Bass 350 red-face, Eden WT800B...
Aggie DB680+qsc/plx 2402; Eden Navigator+qsc/plx 1602

Any of you NV215 users have results with any of these that were better than the other, so's I can get to messin' with a "known killer combination" when I get off work?

Maybe I can make up for luggin' that big ole thing around by just taking a lil ol' head with it;)


FWIW; I've never subscribed to the "oh no, don't underpower the cab" idea...

From what I've read, it seems unlikely that there's "an actively bad match."

I was just hoping for a known "superstar..."



...that I already have; I don't want this to turn into the "Chef needs another head" thread!

Cool, thanks. And yeah, that might be the ticket.:D

I haven't subscribed to that idea, either. That said, I wonder if the mighty little Walkabout has enough juice to make that cab sound really good. I asked the esteemed Mr. Bowlus this question once--he hadn't tried this combo, but thought it would be right on the edge of "just enough" power.

I don't have any of those heads currently, but my bud Big String had a TF550A and NV215. Perhaps he can chime in here (and probably will). I do know that my NV215 kicks major booty with either my Markbass SD800 or Genz Benz GBE1200 - neither of which you have and neither is like any of the heads you listed, but what the hey.... My $.02.

Before I sold mine (:crying: sniff) it was very impressive with the DB750. I didn't care much for the TF550A and this cab. I briefly tried my LMII and almost had to change my boxers... but I didn't gig that combo, wish I had.

I've heard it's quite good with a Mesa 400+ ... oh wait ... you sold it didn't you .... :ninja:
I bet the Eden 800 might sound really good, or the Mesa.

SA200: while that might be really cool, I've not met an all tube head that I really, really like...and then there's the whole budget thing.

If the walkabout sounds killer, but lacks jiuce, I bet the m-pulse 600 will work out nicely.

what you just posted Chef and that a GBE1200 is being used too. I own the GBE750 and GK1001RBI and those are the amps I'll be using with my possible purchase of either the NV 610 or 215. So at least I know it can be done without an all tube head. Tho that sure seems to be what sets em off well from all I've read here. Seems like one would almost want to buy or borrow a tube head to try out with these cabs to see for oneself.

FWIW - I don't mean to derail the thread, but I just did a outdoor festival gig last Saturday using my NV610 and GBE1200. We're a three piece with a vocalist playing loud, hard rock (is there any other kind?). The (very hard hitting) drummer and the guitarist (two amps) were both in the mains. I was not. The sound man said that I was still too loud and kept me out of the FOH. Other musicians in the audience said that the balance was great and that my tone was killin'. The only reason I chose the NV610 over my NV215 was because it can handle more power. :bassist:

"power handling"

The 610 may be spec'd to take that 150 watts more, but the NV215 sure didn't feel like it was under any pressure at being fed 1200 watts...in fact, it rather liked it.
