Octave pedal with a switch for each octave, does it exist?

This might be possible with a Boss GT-1B. I'll try tomorrow and post yay or nay.

The Octaver only goes down, creating -1 and -2 signals. Each has it's own volume, and can be independently turned completely off. The Octaver would be assigned to FX1, set up for -1 only, using the CTL1 switch to turn on and off.

For the +1 tone, you'd build a Pitch Shifter for +1 octave and assign to FX2. To turn this on and off independently, you have several options:
- Connect an external switch and name it CTL2
- Reassign the on/off switch at the top of the volume / wah pedal
- Reassign the simultaneous push of program Up and Down to toggle the second effect.

Switches are stored with each patch, so reassigning foot switches for this patch will not affect others.

I reached out to COG to see about a custom build. Here is what I would dream of.

Analog down octave similar to the COG T65 or Boss oc2, and an octave up similar to the micro POG. Each with a foot switch. I would also love to have a kill switch for the dry signal in case I wanted to do just octave.

The LPF on the low would be similar to the t65 COG makes, and I would like an LPF on the high as well to cut off some harshness an octave up can create.

Is the GT1b capable of putting FX1 and FX2 in parallel? I think OP wants to be able to use them occasionally together like in the actual pedal.
 
Absolutely. It's done in nearly every patch, as many use FX1 as a compressor and FX2 for modulation or time based effects.

He could use either or both effects at will.
The way I read the manual, he can only run the octave down into the octave up or vice versa, but not side by side. If it can do parallel signals I should have bought it years ago.

Edit: I may have misunderstood how the overtone effect works. I could see that doing much of what the OP wants.

I am an octave guy, and I am very happy with my HX Effects. I've previously owned a POG2, and I prefer the sound and the minimum latency of my HxFx. You can emulate analog or digital, mono or polyphonic octaves or any pitch.

I mostly use:
Analog -1.
Digital mono +1, +2. (pre eq'd 400Hz HPF)
Digital mono momentary "B string" (my lowest is an E string).
One effect per switch in the same patch.

I also use digital mono capo for other tunings, and reverb with digital polyoctave up (400Hz HPF too) when needed.

Tom is a good dude, and at one point I asked him about essentially the same thing - a T16 on one switch and a POG on another - but, he's been so busy I havent heard from him at all since he told me my first custom pedal was done several months ago. It's scary. He got really big recognition and hooked up with some big names to make pedals for; I just hope he doesn't drown in it like other makers have. I'm being patient. Couple years in the making, the pedals I'm waiting for.

So your pedal has been done for months and you haven’t gotten it yet?
 
Easiest solution atm is two pedals. One for up , one for down.

My 2 cents.
Other option seems to wait months for custom mods.
if you do this though, would the front pedal cause tracking issues with the second if you ran them both on? for example, if you had the octave down first, would the second pedal (octave up) try and track both the dry signal and the -1 octave?
 
Back in the late 1970s I used to beta-test stompboxes for a tiny "boutique" [read: one guy in his garage building them] company called Sloth Systems, and one of their products was a multi-octave box that did (iirc) 4 octaves up and 4 octaves down (might have been only 3 each) and each voice had its own on/off switch and level control. I forget what they called it, but it had a funny name, inspired I believe by Frank Zappa's Wagnerian Emancipator which did more-or-less the same thing. No idea what became of Sloth Systems or whether that multi-octave box ever became a real product.

Why use them both at once always on??
Anyways.....here’s the solution:

Then add a loop.
Loop A oct up.
Loop B oct down.

Patch input dry in to both loops.
Wet out 2 separate signals. Or blend two.
Many possible patches here.

I think I misunderstood you, not the other way around... ;) By parallel, you're describing each effect getting the dry bass signal directly, vs. the first effect sending an effected signal to the second effect, in series.

I just built this in Tone Studio and uploaded the patch to the unit. I built it as FX1 = Octaver -1 50 / -2 0 / D 50, assigned to toggle via CTL1. FX2 = Pitch Shifter - Pitch +12 (semitones) EX 50 / D50, toggle via Exp1 switch. I then assigned the Expression pedal - EXP to adjust the direct level output 0-100 on both FX1 and FX2.

The effects appear in the Tone Studio plot as in series, but I'm not hearing the first effect affecting the second as I switch it in and out, even when I remove the direct signal via the expression pedal. I'm hearing three tones with both FX on, two with one or the other, and two when both FX are on and the direct is pulled out via the expression pedal.

It's odd, because you're correct that one should affect the other. I may not be hearing it correctly.

It's an interesting setup, though...

My efforts to create a good octave up/down tone in series have been...not good. It may sound ok on the Boss, but I have to imagine it would be better in parallel; with both signals being driven by the origin reference.

That overtone effect sounds like it'd be pretty great, though, and completely controllable per the OP's request.
