Some of these posts are way off the mark.
Ceremony's tone is awfully clean, just slightly overdriven because they pound out every note. Invest in a pair of balls. (You could also just "borrow" a friend's Boss SD-1 and EQ the low-end back into the mix, because you will not get that high end without a jazz bass. Check out Pianos Become the Teeth)
Cali bands are playing through OCD's at the moment. Do that, it sounds killer. And if you're poor like me, buy the JOYO clone called Ultimate Drive. Doesn't do mild overdrive very well, but it's pretty sick and extremely close.
