Odd gig items?

Anyone bring any odd items to gigs?

I bring a pair of nail clippers because I cut my right forefinger's tip off the nail grows past the skin in parts. So I gotta clip the sucker to prevent weird little clicks while I play.

I never go to a show, mine or someone else's, without nail clippers. For that matter I usually have a full complement of mics, cables, and adapters, along with a 20' and 100' extension cord. I've showed up early as a spectator and bailed out more than one band.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like an opportunity to brag about your god-like awareness of space and time at all.:hmm:

Seriously man. It's cool. Very inspiring actually.

I usually use variations of the same bass (usually Fender C neck precision basses) and its what I'm most comfortable with.

When I started to teach myself, my dad would yell at me whenever I looked at them while I played, so maybe its a subconscious response to avoid beatings:hiding:

My tips would be to pick a song (or a scale you know) and just keep practicing it without looking at the fretboard. Then once you can do that, start trying different and new passages, and hopefully some difficult ones as well. It'll help you become more aware of where the notes on your bass are in general.

An old friend of mine used to bring a camel-back under his shirt so he could drink without pausing to pick up a glass.

Another weird item I used to bring was armbands, as I used to sweat a lot under stage lights. Nowadays, I hardly ever sweat (probably because I'm wearing more breathable clothing) so I leave'em at home. :-D

A giant wooden giraffe. Haha it's quite fun too, we set it up with a mic and tell the crowd if they cheer hard enough it'll sing. Apparently one stone guy once told us he heard it sing... I have no idea what he was on, but our drummer said he wanted ten.

As well bringing capo's is key when ur guitarists have the memory span of a goldfish. also extra cables to plug in amps, they seem to disappear on the road

lamp oil - for putting into my mouth and spitting over a torch.

Torch - for spitting the lamp oil over.

Fake blood - made from sugar free vanilla yogurt and red food coloring, watered down slightly.

7" platform boots - the better to stomp around with.

studded leather codpiece - great for scratching the hell outta my stingray 5.
