Oddest question asked in an audition...

Not really at the audition, but...

I was once asked if I could pick up (in a car) the person who was auditioning.

I've picked up more than one person auditioning for our band.... and all were singers. One even asked at the audition if any of us was a mechanic, because his 1983 Cadillac Cimarron was in need of repairs. Seeing he wasn't a fit for the band, I kept my mouth shut.

"mind if i use a click?" drummer (currently with an internationally renowned rock act) --- on a jazz gig. :vomit:

Count yourself lucky! There’s been many times I would actually have been happy if the drummer had asked me that question. I’ve played with a few jazz drummers whose timing was all over the place, and not in a creative / playful way, just a horrible mess. if my choices are ‘jazz with drunk random splashy timing’ or ‘jazz with steady but lifeless timing’ I think i would still always pick the second option.
