Of Groupies and Flashers?

Jake, it's all a big game. It's not real. It's just a bunch of people playing roles - that's all.

Either play the game all the way - which ultimately means willingly using other people, and allowing yourself to be used by other people - or don't play it at all.

In reality, there are many more choices than the 2 extremes you mention, whether the subject is groupies or pretty much anything else in life. But as long as you're happy with picking one of those two, then that works for you.

At a gig Saturday night I had a hot Mexican chick hit on me. Then during the 3rd set a chick comes up and asks me if we'll play Wonderful tonight. I explain to her that we are a hard rock/alternative band. She says she will show me her cans. I point at my wife across the room and say " My wife is right there, she will show me her ***s and I won't have to play Eric Clapton".

I think this is my new sig! Thanks!

Why does it have to be all-or-nothing? Aren't there, like, 49 shades of grey or something?

In reality, either you're playing the game, or you're not. If you think you can play the game just somewhat, or just a little, yet not "really" be playing the game, you're only fooling yourself.

If you choose to go there, the game will suck you in. But if you think you can be the one to play with fire, yet not get burned, then go for it. Knock yourself out.

hmmm. So no person has ever had a casual sexual relationship without getting burned? Certainly there are precautions to take, but this happens millions of times a day in and out of the music realm and works out well for both parties in many cases, and in some cases not as well of course. I like to play live music. So if I'm single, and my being onstage affords me the opportunity to be noticed by an attractive woman and strike up a conversation between sets with her, and this leads to us mutually agreeing to satisfy a physical desire on a one time or semi-regular basis, this is using people and being used? Sorry but 2 consenting adults have more options than "using people" or celibacy. As long as both people are communicating their expectations this can work out just fine. This is like saying someone needs to be 100% republican or 100% democrat. While there are extremes on both sides, most people like some concepts of each party, a bit of a third party, and some ideas that aren't covered by any of them. It's not "you agree 100% with everything party A says or you shouldn't bother to vote". or "I agree with everything my boss says and does, or I quit my job". Those are not your only 2 options.

Are you saying that it is impossible for any person to have casual sex? On what do you base this assumption? I guess I'm confused by your lack of precise terminology and your black-and-white thinking.

Multiple flashers, multiple sets of underwear thrown, hard partying, and the venue owner offered to book my new band on the spot (got 2 months to get ready!). Quite the reaction for only a half-dozen songs finishing off their second set.

Of all the things that didn't happen that didn't happen the most. :eyebrow:

(Also "sets" of underwear? Are you trying to say matching bras and panties were being tossed at you right and left?)

This is interesting. So either these wild one's were carrying extra matching sets of unmentionables in their purses or pockets, at the ready waiting to be tossed on stage to Sr. Lancelot, or multiple lasses disrobed in front of the stage to remove their undies, re-dressed, and then threw "used" unmentionables at his feet. This is definitely something I do not see at my winery jazz gigs. :eyebrow:

A good woman knows how to remove her undergarments without disrobing.

I think this whole story reads like a Penthouse forum story. I'm not saying its not true but. Let's just say in 11 years of playing and doing over 100 concerts from Oz fest to Kid Rock (wildest) as a security super, I never seen a show as wild as the OP said he had at a local bar...just sayin.
