Started on guitar after seeing A Hard days Night
I bought my first bass and amp when I was 16

Traded it later that year for a japanese Epiphone 335/casino looking guitar...traded that a couple of years later for a mahogany 66 Epiphone Cabbalero, which I still have. In my early 20's I bought a brand new rick 480 and shortly thereafter (upon a friends recomendation that if I picked up bass I'd always be in a band...and he was right!) I traded the rick for a 76 sunburst precision:

Which I played semi professionally for years along with my gibson sb400...toured the midwest and NE opened for lots of punk and hard rock bands...the original AC/DC, Ramones, David Johansen, The Dead Boys, B 52's ect.....got divorced and moved to LA for a couple of years still playing hard rock...got sick of LA and moved back to the south where I changed directions and started playing in a blues band...been playing the blues ever since, although I did get to tour England with an Americana band.
My greatest memories are hanging out and partying with all of those characters and going with my drummer to Abbey Road on Boxing day while in England and getting a 2 hour studio tour and generally chatting with Dave who showed us around the historic old studio where the Beatles and Pink Floyd among many others recorded some of the greatest music in history. Here's my little stable of basses:

I've never seen Rick basses like that as well, but looking at the headstock on each one, they all appear to be bass guitars!

Defretted and stripped the Poly off of a Fernandes P Bass

And for #22 we have my old buckeye brother Mr. Reds Fan. Was born and raised in Dayton/Huber Heights area. Went to game 5 of 1975 series, and game 1 of 1976 series.

By the way Gallien-Krueger's are awesome amps. I've got an MB115 with the real light speakers! Great product!

AHH...it's a 330 bass...actually, I always wanted one but rick stupidly never produced a 330 bass so I made it myself ...warmouth neck and a solidbody with a fake routed cat eye f hole....It's actually a great bass as is, but, I'm thinking about re-doing it by hollowing out the body and adding a flame maple cap to it, making it into a real semi-hollow body bass..if I ever get some down time.....dm

I've thought of doing the same or possibly with a 360.

I'm NOT talented enough to do it myself, so when I received a price quote of almost 5k PLUS the cost of the guitar.....the idea quickly died.

Of all the basses I own (and have owned ), playing a DB is singularly the most fun. There is just something about it that really connects you to the instrument .... it is a pain in the butt to carry around, though ....

2000 USA Peavey Millennium 5plus
Been using the Mill 5er exclusively since I bought it new in 2000 & sold off all my other bases around 6 years ago. Been sold on in line vertical arrays for a while (6-7 years now?). Very fond of 12" speakers.

Self taught, started playing bass around age 14. Started playing bars around age 16. Currently doing 6-8 shows a month in a southern rock cover band.

Currently I play a USA Hamer 2-TEK CruiseBass, a MIM Fender Classic Series 50's P-Bass, a mutt P-Bass clone with an added J-bass pickup, a Squier Classic Vibe 50's P-Bass and an Ibanez ASB-140 with a Hammon DarkStar pickup. I have a Fender Bassman 250 head and a silver-face Bassman 50. I have a Sonic compact cabinet loaded with a JBL 15 and a couple of JBL 1 X 12" cabinets.

I started playing after seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan...I begged and pleaded until my folks got me a Danelectro/Silvertone guitar with the amp-in-the-case which I tuned down as much as I could until I got a cheapie Beatle bass clone. I went on to play Hagstrom 4 and 8 string basses until I started playing my beloved Fenders, interrupted by illicit affairs with Gibsons (Grabber and EB-0) and a Reverend.

I started playing bass guitar somewhere around 1971 or 1972, with my first bass a Fender Mustang. Played until 1979 (marriage, kids, bills), then stopped. Picked it up again for a short time in the early nineties, and then once again about five years ago.
