"Offensive" band names

I used to collect albums from bands with offensive or funny to me names. Besides the ones mentioned...

Some of my favorites:
Gay Bikers on Acid
Revolting Cocks
Yeasty Girls (all girl punk rap group from the late 80's)
Man Hole (all girl punk band) I actually think there are several bands using this name.
Throbbing Gristle
Cherry Poppin' Daddies
and The Meat Puppets, obviously

I have had this Honky/Punk/Blues side project called Cast-Iron Willie, only about 10% of the people who hear the name get it. To the others I usually say, Oh, it's like Iron Butterfly except heavy metal blues, which is total nonsense because that is what Iron Butterfly was. I've found most people have no imagination.

Bands like The Meat Men, The Mentors, GG Allin and the Murder Junkies, The Dwarves and other porno punk bands were offensive in every way from their band names, song and album titles to their album covers. That was the whole point with them.

Black Pussy is fairly tame in comparison, especially since none of their music or songs have offensive titles or lyrics. Sounds like all of this publicity is picking them up more new fans (judging by Youtube comments) than turning people off of them. It's probably the best thing that could happen to a rock band. From their new album, definitely an early QOTSA vibe to them...

Good list. Another side project of Al Jourgensen was 1000 Homo DJs which is a pretty good one in my book, but others might find it offensive.

A few years ago there was a guy wearing a t-shirt that said F**k You, You F**king F**k (a line from the movie Scarface) at an outdoor festival. This was a festival full of carnival rides, food, craft booths and such with lots of kids running around. Totally tacky and inappropriate! I really wanted to go up to him and rip it off of him.

Here in Australia a writer for one of our major newspapers (a highly left leaning feminist) was so upset at Tony Abbott's conservative government winning the federal election that she had shirts made up was selling them through said newspaper's online version that said, without any stars censoring the word, "F**K Tony Abbott". These shirts have been seen regularly at protest marches and other events where children and old folk are. This same person is renowned for taking offence at even the most obscure thing said by a conservative. Hypocrite is much too nice a word for this piece of trash.

My roommate's cousin (with whom I have recorded two albums under the highly offensive name "Vacant Fever") was an original member of Black Pussy up in Portland several years ago. He (roommate) happened to be visiting Dan at his apartment up there when the now lead dude came up with the name. The entire reason was shock value and nothing more. So any tales he is spinning now are just that; spin.

Is Black Pussy actually racist?

I don't think it is, especially when they have a black cat with a flying V as their logo to take the heat off a bit. I can see how some people would take offense, but I think that's kind of the point of having that band name. Rock n' roll is full of edgy, sexual double entendre that are borderline offensive. That's one of the main appeals of the genre.

Black Lips, Black Flag (and the tribute band Black Fag), Black Crowes, Black Kids, Big Black, Black Cobra, Black Bastards...lots of bands with black in the name.

I know some guys in Darwin, Australia who call themselves Aborted Jesus Milkshake.

Always hated the name and have turned down many bands due to bad names. Just pointless and makes getting gigs hard.
