It was never going to be a completely salvageable job as the neck was too dinged up, so I made it to look like an antique piece. It should be all finished up soon.
Mahogany body, three piece maple neck. @9c1ny I think says it a rosewood headstock veneer. Fairly certain it started its life as an early Rico but some animal got their paws on it. I wanna get an R waterslide, so if anyone knows a decent source or another idea lemme know.Nice! Is that body mahogany? The grain looks like it.
Originals were bone cut by Neal MoserI dropped my Bodine off at the luthier yesterday. He was excited to see it, being a pretty rare one. I brought it in because the nut needed to be either fixed or replaced. It was possibly originally cut for stringing upside down (likely Steve McGrath), plus the E string was always too close to the edge of the fretboard. He's going to replace the nut (I'll get the original back) and fix and improve the string spacing. I'm excited. It should really improve playability.
Cool. Unfortunately this one is problematic for me. My luthier said he's got one there that should match this one.Originals were bone cut by Neal Moser
That quilt reflection on the body would be a really cool design. In case anyone needs a case for an Ironbird, the Coffin Case VXR-300 works great, just gotta take the compartment out of the bottom.
BC Rich customer service can’t be bothered to make a case for it, nor can they be bothered to answer emails - so I was on the hunt for a bit and the fine folks at Coffin pointed me in the right direction. Hope this can help others.
Cheers!
