Every time I think,...."this should be an easy win",....I'm usually disappointed.

There really are no sure victories in the cap era.

Also:

Do not dismay,...at least your team has won a cup (or two) in your lifetime. My team on the other hand......

Yeah, you're right.

I was too young for the first cup, but I remember the second one pretty well, I have game 7 on tape somewhere. The Flyers haven't won the cup since... what '75?

At least I have the memory somewhat fresh in my mind.

For all the complaining about the refs' bad calls over the last week... last night's non-call during the Flyers/Hurricanes game was stunning. Whistle blown as Coburn and Stall come together, Staal takes a mini-slash at Coburn, Coburn obviously says something, Staal gives him the 'evil eye', so Coburn finsihes out by launching Stall into the end boards and then the two get their gloves in each other's faces as a crowd gathers.

With that well after the whistle and the linesman having to pull guys apart, I fully expected there to be a couple misconducts out of that at least, with the Canes going on the power play for Coburn's launching of Stall into the end boards.

The announcers were more stunned than I was!

The broadcast I saw had the Carolina announcers. The only thing they seemed stunned about was why Coburn would "do such a thing". They totally missed (or simply disregarded) the fact that Stall might have done anything wrong at all. According to them, it was all on Coburn for creating a dangerous situation. I think what started it all was that Stall kept going after the whistle had blown. That's what irritated Coburn.

That's funny, I almost shut the game off when the Av's made it 3-1. I was splitting some wood, so I figured I might as well leave it on.

Malkin was on fire tonight and Neal remained hot. It sure was nice to have Kennedy and Orpik back. Sullivan made some good plays, and Fleury settled down and put the clamps on.

Forgot to mention that goal from Duchene. Beauty, eh? I just turned on the highlights and saw it.

I know it's early, but Matt Cooke only has four PIM so far. Maybe he has cleaned up his approach to the game.

The Bruins won again - this time it was the 3rd and 4th lines providing 3 of the 4 goals. Not that the first two lines played badly, it was just the puck didn't find the net.

Tied for 8th with TB in the East which is not out of the woods yet, but a lot better than where they were at the beginning of this month.

I was one of the worst offenders. I was going to wait another month or so to see if their play held up before I came to you with my hat in my hand, but up to now it would appear your predictions were correct & mine were, well, f'd.

Consider me standing & being counted.

Here I am. What standings are you looking at? I see Pittsburgh on top in the East. But hey, it's only 18 games in so don't get too excited yet. It's too early to make any judgements on the season for me. The Pens success is nice and all, but I want to see it last longer than 18 games.

I said with the standings going into last nights games. Flyers stood on top last night before Pittsburgh's and NY Rangers wins. Flyers hold the tie-breaker over the Penguins, Rangers over the Flyers.

Flyers are getting stronger and playing consistent hockey. They jsut need to learn to stay out of the penalty box. Stills tops in penalty minutes and minor penalties called so far this season. Thankfully their penalty kill has been awesome!

Oh, last night. I was looking this morning.

I didn't realize the Flyers PK was doing so well. Not as good as Pittsburgh's, but still 10th in the league. Nice.

Not to mention that the team that traded away all their offensive output is leading the league in Goals For with 65 (with the Caps in second with 55).

I'll temper this gloating (well at least my gloating) by stating that a good start to the season doesn't necessarily guarantee a good finish and stats and leading in categories doesn't amount to a hill of beans if another team is hoisting the cup.

Yeah,...pretty much. I think refs scrutinize the Flyers a lot more then they do other teams; based on reputation. Gripe Gripe,...but it is what it is and the Flyers seem to be able to persevere through it.

The PK and going to the box I'm not so much concerned about (other then not getting all your lines involved) then I am the stale PP the Flyers are fielding this young season. If they don't get it figured out by the All Star break and get it rolling down the stretch run they may have issues in the Playoffs. They probably can't bank on the same sort of luck that Boston had last year when they can't capitalize on their chances.
