The Bruins haven't been in too many shootouts so far, so I actually enjoyed it.

I missed the first half, but caught the end of the 2nd and most of the 3rd. Columbus is not as bad as their record would indicate. I don't know how their goalie kept the puck out during the 4 on 3 in OT.

Rask pretty much stole 1 point in regulation and got them the second point in the shootout with some big stops.

I saw most of the first and third. It was a somewhat slow game. Looch had some nice hits & Seguin is developing an amazing forecheck. It was good to see Rask play so well, I think he needed it.

I'd rather have a longer overtime and then a tie rather than the shootout. Hell, just give me a longer overtime and I'll be ok with the shootout.

I'm with you there, I love the 4 v 4 overtime. :hyper:
I'm OK with the shootout as long as there are not too many of them, but I'd give it up for a longer 4 v 4 in a heartbeat. With each team getting a 4v3, that was just the icing on the cake.

I still can't believe that was Columbus' first point on the road.

Bryzgalov gets a win in his first game against his former team on the 4 year anniversary of said team picking him up on waivers.

The goalie celebration and the big big hug that Bryz gave Read (for getting the Game Winner) was a wonderful site to behold. Things like that are why I love this sport so much.

Chemistry? This team haz it and I don't care what anyone says. The fact that the Flyers could roll line combinations without Jagr and still be successful in a tight game?.....yeah.

I thoroughly enjoyed that game and gotta give it up to the Yotes for standing their ground and being a worthy opponent (not that other teams aren't,...well,...Tampa Bay is definitely not a worthy opponent and have brought shame and dishonor to their name).

I have to do the research,...but hopefully Jagr isn't sidelined for too long.

Vorecek had a sweet game,...as did JVR as well.

PS: Matt Read,....Mkandolf and I were singing his praising over the short break and he goes and gets the GW tonight. This kid is so legit.

Jagr looks to only miss Saturday's game against Winnipeg, should be back on Monday.

Flyers now the only team with only a single road loss. Phoenix just happened to be the only other team until last night.

Jeff Carter is reportedly requesting a trade out of Columbus already??? That from RDS writer Renaud Lavoie. Hey Jeff, don't you think you should at least score some goals and put up more than three points before asking for a trade? Like have some kind of a trade value?

He and the rest of the team should be. They've got as deep and dangerous a lineup as there is in the league, but they just look completely disorganized out there. They're missing Mike Green a lot; he's a big part of their offensive and defensive flow, but still, you can't completely collapse as a team when one guy goes down, particularly when you've got Ovi, Backstrom, Semin, and Vokoun.

Winnipeg looks good, and back when they were the Thrashers, they always played Washington tougher than their record would indicate (particularly Kane and Pavelic, who seem to have an extra gear when the Caps are around). Every good team loses games, but it's frustrating to have such a Jekyll-and-Hyde team.

Washington strikes me as one of those flashy teams that looks great sometimes but are missing those blood & guts type guys you need for when the going gets tough, and that would explain their lack of success in the playoffs. That's just an impression I get, I haven't seen a ton of their games over the last few years, so I could be wrong, but the games I have seen where they've struggled they couldn't seem to get their heads on straight when there's a decent amount of push-back from their opposition.

I'm looking forward to CAL/CHI tonight. Two teams going in opposite directions as the saying goes.

I see Edmonton hanging around down there at #9 in the standings. Sure would be cool to see them reel off some wins and jump in a little higher.

That's definitely been true over the last few years, although the front office is working to bring in guys who can help that, and I think they're moving in the right direction. Guys like Chimera, Ward, and Brouwer will help keep the Caps gutty when Ovechkin, Semin, and Backstrom are having off nights. Washington is also becoming less of the flashy team that won the President's Cup two years ago and then folded in the first round against Montreal. Boudreau's worked a lot on instilling the value of defense, and it's come a long way. I think they were legit contenders last year, and I think they'll be legit contenders this year... just wish they were a little more even-keel as opposed to these waves of success and then failure.

What a bummer to see Emery get chased tonight, but the Oilers are lighting up Crawford too.

The Pens finished getting swept in Florida. Staal with another goal, and it felt to me like a better performance than last night in Tampa. The Islanders are up next on Monday, not looking forward to that one.

Anyone else see Mike Richards SH goal tonight? He beat Hudler to the puck. But come on, what was Hudler thinking? Richards has made a career of scoring SH goals.
