Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Second Period

Over in the East, the 7/8 spots are looking more secure, but a team like Ottawa can certainly make a push to take out Boston.

It could happen, but it's very unlikely. B's have 7 left and Ottawa has 6. Five points separate them. Even if the B's limp home at 3-4, Ottawa would have to go 6-0 to overtake Boston since the B's hold the tie-breaker.

Buffalo 88

Washington 88

The Caps hold the tie-breaker over the Sabres, so you'd have to flip those two.

He did mention he didn't take the tie-breakers into consideration.

Can't I just see it in print for a little longer before you make him change it?

BTW they have a head to head meeting tomorrow. :D

Ooops, sorry mkandolf; I missed that. But they way things are shaping up, it looks like tie-breakers are going to be important. Those two teams seem to have similar schedules to run out the string and Buffalo has been hot lately. I'm picking the Sabres to oust the Caps. We play the Caps Thursday and the Sabres on the last day of the season.
