WoW, that's a little tough on the boys isn't it? They pounded out 19 shots on goal in the third period alone. Miller saved 44.
I missed the Pens Islanders game because I had practice but they lost 5-3. Pens outshot the Islanders 54-25 so I guess I'll assume the puck just didn't bounce the Pens way tonight. When you are on fire and win 13 in a row at home, you're going to lose once in awhile! Just seems even more important now as they are chasing that 1 seed.
Embarrassing.....wow. Hopefully Bylsma makes his players put in some extra practice for that pitiful showing tonight. Time to settle in for the #4 seed. Give Fleury some rest. The Islanders looked like they had something to prove tonight, like maybe they were the ones playing for the #1 seed. Nice job by them to stick it to the Pens right from the start, and on the Pens ice.

I didn't see the game, but that's probably what happened. Between no lucky bounces and a hot goalie for the other team, it's tough to overcome. Similar to the Flyers against Tampa Bay the other night. Flyers outshot the Lightning by a substantial margin, and only allowed something like 14 shots on Bryzgalov.
BUT... Bryzgalov allowed 4 of those 14 to get by him. Conversely, the ancient Duane Rolefson (sp.???) looked like Martin Brodeur in his prime! Very sharp. Sometimes games just seem to go like that. I sure wouldn't be too worried about the Pens. They're looking like Cup finalists to me...
Miller was fantastic. I'm less disappointed that they only got one past him and more disappointed that, with the exception of the first goal, the Caps defense totally failed their goalie(s) tonight. Giving up five goals in a must-win game just isn't acceptable. Buffalo outworked the Caps on both ends of the ice by a wide margin.
While I'm not looking forward to the Caps game since they will be playing with some desperation, it is good to see the Bruins play another solid game. The B's have been down, then up, then down and now appear to be back on the upswing just in time for the playoffs. They are getting contributions from every line - Thorton (4th line) had the first goal and Pouliot (3rd line) got the eventual game winner.
Stamkos got two goals - one was a laser 1-timer to the near top corner - nothing Timmay could do.

I'm OK with the seeding as well. Since the teams play unbalanced schedules (6 against your division; 4 against the others in your conference) straight seeding has an element of unfairness in it too - just a different unfairness.
If the current system consistently worked against the same division year in and year out, or if teams played a balanced conference schedule, I'd consider a change. The Atlantic is stacked top to bottom now, but it hasn't always been.
