Yes you can Biamp your SVT-4 Pro, with your SVT 1540. First make sure the button on the back is set to stereo, and NOT Mono-Bridge. Then all you do is run a patch cable(Shelded Instument Cable) from the Biamp Low Output into the Power Amp A Input. Then run a Patch from the Biamp High Output, into the Power Amp B Input. Then run the Power Amp A Speaker Output into the Low Input(far right-I think) on your cab. And Power Amp B Speaker Output into the High Input(second from left-I think) on your cab. Your Done!!! I biamp my lows to my 15, but I keep my 4x10's full range by not patching the Biamp High into Power Amp B. I think that it sounds great this way. Good Luck. Does the crossover in the 1540 have a fuse? For an unknown reason my amp "stopped" working. I tested all of my cords and brought the amp in and found nothing wrong. I got the amp back this week and played through the 8X10 for my gig and everything worked well. Would anyone know what to check next?

Ampeg Svt 4 pro owners....

how do you guys keep your amp cool? i think i'm going to buy one of those small clip on fans to help circulate the air flow. Any ideas?


Also, whats a good company to buy good quality road cases and not break the bank?

Back when I had mine, it would get scary hot, so I'd actually use a pair of fans in my rack. I've owned three different tube amps since the SVT4-Pro, and none of them even got close to being that hot.

I know that everyone says that their SVT-4 gets super hot.....But I've owned mine since 1999, in a rack case, and it never gets hot. I check it all the time because I have read so much about overheating problems. It gets a little warm, but nothing close to what I have read about. My GK 800RB runs much hotter than my SVT-4 Pro. Maybe the quality has slipped since 1999, but my SVT-4 runs great. I have it in a SKB 4 space rack along with a Furman Power conditioner. If I were having problems, I would recommend leaving a few rack spaces empty, and installing a fan. You could also cut a couple holes in the side of the rack case. I guess I am one of the lucky SVT-4 Pro users. :hyper:

I'm not sure about the 1540, but every other Ampeg cab that I have looked at has a "Light Bulb" type fuse in the crossover. Pop out your 15'' speaker and have a look. I am willing to bet that the bulb(fuse) is burned out. You can order replacement parts right from Ampeg's website. Good Luck, and let us know how you make out.
