Ampeg SVP Pre-amp (currently on its way to the repair shop for crackling noise and loss of volume.)

Have you sent it off yet? My first thought is that a tube has gone out, which really doesn't require a trip to the shop.

Why is the V4B bigger than the Ampeg cabinet?

I guess that's just how they make 'em! Apparently today's Ampeg's aren't prepared, width wide, to handle the awesomeness of their vintage brethren.

I better add my SVT48HE to my rig description. I used my full rig last night (the aforementioned 48+410HLF driven by my SVT-CL. Nice is an understatement. Has anybody else used this setup or something similair?

Been a Trace Elliot user for years, but just got a SVT-3Pro and a SVT-410HE. So far I'm very pleased with the sound. Thinking of adding another cab too. Maybe a SVT-210HE. Haven't decided yet.

Ampeg Svt 4 pro owners....

how do you guys keep your amp cool? i think i'm going to buy one of those small clip on fans to help circulate the air flow. Any ideas?


Also, whats a good company to buy good quality road cases and not break the bank?

I have never had a heat issue with my SVT-4. It sits in the bottom of my SKB rack (with the feet on). I have a 3 space utility drawer above that. 2 empty spaces for my direct box and a handy place for my X2 wireless receiver and then a Furman above that.

The only amp I have that gets "scary" hot is my SWR Baby Blue 2. Frying eggs hot.

I miss my Svt-3 Pro, loved that bass amp, I just rid of it to upgrade to the Svt-Cl but plan to maybe buy also my svt-3pro as a backup, enjoy that amp..

Nah I don't think so. I think that's a rather recent change isn't it? I know my Ampeg SVT3-pro isn't as it's the older 90's model with the blackface and colored lettering so that should be USA. The B2RE I have shouldn't be as it 's a little older (got it used in 2006?) but I'm not sure about that one.

i have a vietnam svt4 pro, it's KILLER! i can't say that i have another one to compare it too, but it's everything i expected. i used to have an American made svt3, the 4 has the same killer tone i remember from ampeg, just more power. just wish i had more cabs to unleash it.

HHmm that would be great wouldnt be, more cabinets to unleash the power of the amp, maaann just connecting that damm bass and standing in front of the speakers, problably fly off like Michael J.fox on Back to the future when he plays that guitar and stands in front of that speaker lol.
