What such strange behavior!!! Are you sure the upper cabinet is not damaged?

The only problem I had is when I plug both cabinets, the limiter doesn't work well making a noise like exploding at the beginning of a very low note (like B) at high volume (say 2:30).

Did you have this problem?

Yes. Should be an audible click and some minor buzzing when it does it as well. Turn off the limiter and it sounds bad.

No this issue is happening to multiple TB'ers. This entire setup (head and both cabs) was replaced by Ampeg for this reason and it still does it.

I've had mine since they came out. Love my rig!! I'll try to get a photo soon,sign me up please. It's tone is really robust for such a small rig.
One problem I noticed is that my tolex is beginning to peel, should I fix it myself or would it still be covered by my warranty?

If it's an A00 revision it's a known issue. They used a water based glue by mistake/bad design. You need to have it replaced with a B00 revision. Just call Ampeg. All A00 revision amps WILL do this. The only change from A00 to B00 revision is the glue, nothing else was changed.

I don´t know if one of you live outside US and had this experience. I live in south america, I don't know if Ampeg would do something for me Recently the tolex covering the head is peeling out.....

Yeah, it's the A00 Rev. I'll call Ampeg, hate to send this amp back. I just came back to Ampeg after so many years using everything from GK to Trace Elliot and so on...

I walked away from Ampeg a few months after St. Louis Music was no more due to issues I was having with my gear. I played this amp and it drew me right back in. I got the head and one cab, then got the second cab and started having the issues mentioned in the video in my sig. I don't want to get rid of this amp. The tone is golden, but if I can't use both cabs it isn't going to work for me.

I haven't had any issues with my rig, I'm using both cabinets and luckily no issues with crackling or distortion.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Try these settings. -15 off Gain 1:30 Bass 2:00 Mid 11:30 Treble 11 Volume 1:30 and limiter on and off. Play something on the low E.

Report back.

For those that care. Ampeg advised they are sending the head back to engineering to fix the noise issues. This head does not function correctly at more than 50% gain and volume with two cabs (they claim with certain variables). Here is the paraphrase in the other thread of the email I got from them.

hey guys, I have the head, now I'm on the market for a cab. Do you all think the SVT210AV is the best match for the head? does anybody prefer using other cabs? I've used the M-VR with a few different cabs, including the 210AV and I thought they all sounded pretty good. I prefer 15's to 10's though, and I feel like getting one 4 ohm cab would be a bit more convenient than two 8 ohm cabs

Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm new to bass, and since I'm not in a band right now I don't really know what my needs are, or what size venues I'm likely to be playing ,but I'm hoping that will change soon, and I want to be prepared.

The 210av looks the coolest with it But I've tried it in a couple B-15 cabs and an old SVT 810 and it kicks with them too, so you're not limited to the 210av.

Just to cool looking, trying to justify it as a practice-drummerless rig?

It's almost loud enough to keep up with a light to medium drummer with one cab and has a small footprint. It's a great amp for a practice space for sure.

hutz, copied the settings you gave me, and yes, I 'm getting the same issues as you.
I hate to send this head back, I love this rig!! The issue with the tolex needs to be taken care of, so i'm sending it back to to be replaced. I don't play loud and I usually have p.a. support.
This amp rocks and I can't see me getting rid of it, Ampeg will make it right I'm sure.
