Hi, I hope Im posting in the right place.I am rebuilding my newly bought 67 sb12 which has seen better days.Ill be recapping and biasing.Im also making a new baffle,(keeping the stock one ).Im installing a jbl 8 ohm 15 which is in great shape .any way Im confused on how to set up the speaker wiring back to stock.Pictures would be great and some guidance,please. When I get it back together and post pics here, Id be honored to get a club number from jimmy. thanks

I'm not sure what you are starting with, but here are the basics:

The lids on the older SB12's should have two 1/2" holes bored in them, underneath the tray. There should be a wire coming out of each hole, and they would pass through two 1/2" holes in the amp tray (which you can see in the background).

These wires are connected to the lag bolts on each end of the lid and get connected to the output wires inside the amp. If the output wires are currently connected to a 1/4" jack that was added (very common) they would have to be disconnected from the jack so they could attach to the wires in the lid. Inside the cabinet there should be two wires connected to the speaker.

One wire should run up the left side of the cabinet and one should run up the right side of the cabinet, and get attached to the machine screw that holds the latch to the cabinet. When the latches make contact with the lag bolts in the lid, the speaker circuit is completed. Unfortunately, the latches on Portaflex cabinets typically become loose over time. This causes even more of a problem with the SB12 since it can cause the speaker connection to be intermittent.

That sucks...I could see those being instant collector's items, although there are way fewer collector's item bass amps than basses. You can get most any used amp for a price that's not out of line, and I don't think there's a single bass amp that commands a ridiculous price. B-15's can get a little silly sometimes, but that's about it, and you can still find them for very reasonable prices on occasion.

So, does a BT-15 count? If so, I would like to be a member.

I just got it. It looks like hell, but it works. I didn't know it had the light up controls when I saw it, so I will check with the lights off if that is working.
