Not been in here in ages but here's my pretty heavily modded ATK at last

I'll get some better pics without my stupid face in at some point, can't really see the jazz that well, but you can see the extra part of the pickguard where you can see the white layer round it which is a really nice touch.

Nice pics!

What's all did you mod? I see the jazz pup, the replacement for the triple coil, and "something" going on where the 3-way switch used to be....what's going on with the switch? Is yours all passive now? Seems like I remember you saying you made it passive at one time.

Anyway, are you satisfied with the mods? Anything you still want to do or wish you wouldn't have done?

The something is a blend/tone control, no master unfortunately cos he couldn't wire it as such, the preamp controls are just there so it doesn't look odd, although if I could use the master volume control on it somehow without using the rest of it that'd be good.

Mods are good though, I'm pretty happy with them to be honest apart from the Jazz pickup compresses a little easily for my tastes, thinking of getting a Dimarzio Ultra J to take it's place at some point.

Okay gotcha. A blend/tone makes perfect sense. It looks like a good professional job.

I just picked up a like new ATK300RSPBK off eBay. It's the Guitar Center model with the rosewood fretboard and the engraved pickguard and bridge. I was nervous about buying it after hearing about all the issues others have had with the Indonesian models, but after a little setup it plays like a dream:hyper: I will post pictures soon. The engraving looks nice and I like the pewter-like look of the hardware. It's a keeper:)

welcome to the club blowfly!

i finished up my ATK modding yesterday, when my pots/caps arrived. I am super pleased with the way it turned out. The neck pup adds a nice depth to the tone that I felt was lacking before. Basically, it's just ballsier and bassier overall.

I kept the ATK's 3-way switch as is, added a Dimarzio Ultra Jazz 5, and wired it as a passive V/V/T/MV. It's got loads of crispness that I didn't have before. (500K CTS pots for V/V/T, 1M for MV, .1uF Orange Drop tone cap)

if you want to read more of my ramblings check my thread I'll post photos when I cut a pickguard, and clips when I get a chance to record.

I checked out your thread - the mods sound interesting. Makes me wonder what a big fat mudbucker pickup like they put on the Telecaster basses would sound like. I guess I should enjoy mine like it is for a while before I go changing things up.:D I don't really care for the stock strings very much though. I have a set of Rotosound Billy Sheehan strings laying around that I'm going to try. They should be plenty long to string through the body. I have flatwounds on all my other basses so the ATK will be my 'roundwound' bass.

So for my ATK300 I got a neck pickup from Ibanez and the 5 position switch. The preamp section is the same on the 300's and 750.

In order to wire this in, I need the ATK750 wiring diagram. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 750?

Or, would anyone with the 750 be willing to pull off their control cavity and draw the wiring diagram for me? Also, measure from the bridge pickup to the neck pickup?

I checked the Ibanez site but there is no diagram for the 750.
