I have a 90s ATK 300 with a bad EQ PCB. I thought about replacing the PCB but it's $128 from Ibanez (Hoshino USA), and their customer service people are downright rude. I found a EQ, toggle switch, pots and pickup from a new generation ATK, and I'd like to put them in the old ATK. But I have questions.

a) Does anyone have opinions about sound/tone/quality differences between the two sets of electronics, old vs new?

b) Would anyone be willing to open up their new generation ATK 300 and snap a picture for me? The parts I got had the wires detached for removal, and it's not clear where each wire should go. I am specifically looking for detail shots of the connections to the toggle switch PCB and to the 1/4" jack.

Any input would be much appreciated. I want to rescue this guitar!

Same tone, better quality, better design, no battery directly attached to board

You might wanna give it a quick go passive before you spend any money, some people have liked it rather alot. Not too surprised that the pres only $128, alot of people that know their electronics seem to criticise Ibanez rather alot for the quality of theirs.

I'm personally staying passive till I can afford something I know is gonna be really good, perhaps an East or something. Heard nothing but good things about them and they don't colour the sound too much, so shouldn't sound too far from the passive sound just with plenty more output.

Well it looks like I'll be retiring from the ATK club.. my ATK305 was always nice to play, but I never fell in love with the ATK sound, and I found a used MIM Fender Deluxe Jazz V for a good price that I couldn't resist, so I'll be selling my ATK to finance that purchase. Thanks for the good times!

That is a great clip! It shows that an ATK is an absolutely first class bass that works just as well as any other bass in a pro environment. That brother on the ATK sounds just as good playing MeShell's lines as David Dyson did playing a MTD 535.
