When it comes to 1 vs 2 cabs, I relate to the lyric: "Too much of everything is just enough". I like having a cab closer to my ear level, and having the head controls where I don't have to bend over to tweak 'em. Even when I practice at home at low volume, solo, I play through a vertically stacked pair of cabs. When dealing with BF cabs, they're so light that that using the 2nd cab doesn't bother me.

BF's sound great with one, but I have Aggie SL-112's also.... one sounds okay, maybe a bit meh to my ear, but two sound pretty damn good, and it's not just a volume thing. So I could see how maybe 2 BF's might sound even better then one, even setting side volume.

It IS one ironic downside of how small and powerful some of the boutique cabs like BF are, that while one cab is enough, it's so small that your knees get the sound if you have to stand close to it.

Hi,

I have been using an Aguilar TH500 with an Ampeg SVT-210av, for rehearsal and small to medium gigs.
I love the tone and the weight of this setup, but sometimes I need more power.
So I'm looking for a 4ohm 210 with the tone of the SVT-210av.

I think that the Barefaced Two10 will be an one cab solution for use it whit the TH500.

Somebody with any experience with an Aguilar TH500 with a Barfaced Two10?

Here's a video of the BB2 in action, this time with my newly acquired Taylor AB-1 acoustic basss guitar and black nylon tapewounds. Bass is a blend recorded from two sources: the Fishman piezo pickup and VTB Active Volume & Tone Controls into an Fdeck HPF Pre and Reiner Studio 1200 amp (w/3-tube preamp), then: (1) the amp's DI and (2) mic'd a Barefaced BB2 cab with a Peluso 22 251 large diaphragm tube condenser. Blend is about 50% DI and 50% mic'd.

Finally, photo of my Mesa / Barefaced rig. That's my two BF One 10's with Schroeder Mini 12L-4 on bottom, just for fun. I couldn't resist trying out to see how the three cabs together sounded., It was massive when I turned the Mesa up to about 2 o'clock. Not only was the tone great, but my insides were literally vibrating.

Then I got brave and unhooked the Schroeder. There was a very slight loss of volume, so I bumped the master up a bit. This was my first time of really throwing some serious volume at the Barefaced. I could not believe it. I thought my liver and kidneys were going to liquify. So yes, the mini rig of Mesa/Bearfaced is indeed a force to be reckoned with.

FYI I normally stack the BF's vertical without the Schroeder, but my Schroeder is developing Separation Anxiety.

I'm shopping for an amp and cab very patiently....looking at lots of options. Noted that Barefaced are known for mega low end and some skip the tweeters which for me is a plus.

Anyone done an A/B comparison of BF to Acme which seem to be less well known but have a reputation for running very deep - able to reproduce a B string fundamental.

Anyone find they go too low, to a point you have to use a high pass filter or roll off the bass when playing live?

That's gonna depend on what you feed the cabs (amp and effects if any) and how loud you play. If your amp and any effects put out a lot of super lows you may want an HPF. I've got a pair of Acme B2's and a Barefaced One10 as well as an AudioKinesis TC115 and a bunch of other stuff. Those are all great cabs... different flavors of good. I have never used an HPF but then again I stopped playing in stoooopid loud bands years ago.

I had a pair of Acme Full Range cabs. Great cabs with unbelievable lows, shimmering highs, and very clear. After awhile I felt they were a bit too "sterile" for me and I moved on to Audiokinesis, then Greenboy Fearless. Each was a step up until I finally reached the ultimate - Barefaced. Best cabs I have ever played or owned: full range; nice lows; smooth highs; very organic in sound.
