Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Hearing about the Tecamp 900 is super useful to me. I run 1100w out of a PLX into my Super Twin and it rules. I don't get compliments, mind you.. but I don't sense that I need more. The thought of a lighter amp is appealing but if it won't get me anywhere, my amp isn't too heavy.

Interesting. I believe @alexclaber used to (and might still) run a U5 into a power amp as his "head."

Yes, I remember reading that...except he was running the 3402 IIRC...I ended up with the U5 setup by chance when my Aguilar DB750 came up with a really scratchy gain knob and I used the U5 into the poweramp of the DB to get me through some gigs. The engineer said the bassist for Machine Head also used a U5. I was worried about the lack of a EQ options but since most of my tone is coming from pedals it hasn't been an issue at all.

The U5 is still on my list of want to try. This isn't helping.
;)

Well, in the Puma's defense, I am running it REALLY loud and with quite a substantial bass boost on the bass (flat or slightly cut in the amp), which the Super Twin takes effortlessly by the way, so it's not a surprise that the Puma reaches it's limits by the end of the night, when the band is playing louder and I need to keep people dancing with disco and 80's music. Actually I think it's a wonderful head, I love it's cristal clear tone, and the versatility of the Taste knob. It's just that I require a little more headroom in some situations, but for the 90% of my gigs, the Puma is just perfect.

I'm with you on that as well. I have some killer preamps now, but I'm still thinking of ways to justify buying a U5...

I'm fairly certain that Amos Williams from TesseracT uses and LOVES the U5. He doesn't use Barefaced cabs, in fact, I don't think he uses ANY cabs, but he loves the crap outta that U5...

Back on topic: I'm going into my 4th week of waiting for my BTII...am I close?:D

This Invalid Link Removed is reportedly a few steps up from the TecAmp!
[Caveat: I did hear of one person who preferred the TecAmp after playing through both.]

but the super twin cover is likely to be a roqsolid one, has anyone any experience with these on the super twin?

It looks like from pic the 'flap' under the bottom of the cab might drag on the ground when the cab is wheeled?

The older ones were made by Roqsolid but they aren't nowadays - the new covers are thicker with internal seams and have a placeholder strap (rather than flap) on the cabs with wheels.

This weekend I had a gig where the stage was much smaller than I anticipated, and it was the second time I was going to use my new Super Twin. It was so cramped that I had to stand almost with the cab touching the back of my legs. Usually the only way to hear myself in such circumstances is turning up too loud for the rest of the band, but in this case I didn't have to. I heard myself (not just the lows, but also note definition), while not overpowering the band.
Needless to say, I'm very happy with this cab!

Good to know that the new covers have a placeholder strap... definitely an improvement. My only complaint about the Roqsolid cover on my BTII is that the bottom corners of the wheel cutouts are starting to fray due to dragging.

I placed my first Barefaced order, a BB2, on 4/19. I woke up to email saying they have one available now with tophat. It's new. A customer changed their mind. No change in price for me. I'm 99.9% sure I am jumping on this.

Is there any reason I should not? Thanks.

There's no reason not to. I have a tophat in my SM and my One10 and use them from time to time. BB2 is a bit bigger cab, but I am sure it would work fine, especially since Barefaced's FR800-- a BB2 cab with an amp in it, essentially-- is meant to be pole mounted, and weights somewhat more than a BB2 (due to the internal amp).

It worst, it's a neutral. No downside at all IMO, and probably upside. That's a $50 option.

I used Paypal with no hitch. The transfer seemed complicated, and I have heard of people who had problems with it and had to go back and do paypal anyway, in the end.
Ugh I wish I'd known that. It was a hassle to do the transfer and then I found out the fee was pretty hefty there too so it's not like it would've made much of a difference. Oh well... I guess I'll wait till tomorrow and then email barefaced.
