I was happy with the 800, and am even happier with the +. Unless you play both, there's no way to know (and certainly no way for me to know) which you'd prefer :)

The sweepable mids are great, but for me the HPF is more than worth the price increase. It'll tame any boom, anywhere. It's fearless.

If you do end up with the DB751 and decide to put it in a head case I would stay away from the Aguilar ones, I had one and it adds a good deal of weight and it is made of particle board and the handle loosens easily. I had one custom made for a few bucks more from NYC cases great company, I actually bought a standard one they had and din't like the depth and they took it back and built me a custom one no extra charge I just had to ship it back. I know way too much information sorry.

You might want to consider one of the Class D / Tube-Pre amps out there as an almost-best-of-both-worlds option. I get fabulous results from a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 (avail used) and a Bugera Veyron B1001T. No, it's not quite your "real" amp (mine is an Aguilar DB680 paired with an old Crown which I hardly want to lug) but they get you 85% there. My go-to with my BB2 + SM is the Streamliner

My second Two10 arrived today... sounding good! Can't wait for a proper test live...

The vertical configuration has a noticeably tighter low end which I prefer...

New BB2 arrived today. Played 15 minutes with Quilter BB800. First impression is highly favorable. The build quality is superb. Pro world class stuff. To be expected. Sonically it's tight, articulate, musical and transparent. I quickly was able to dial in useable tones. The HF dial is magical. Instant vintage to hi-fi modern. The transition is so smooth. As nice as it sounds, I can tell it needs some breaking into. Once that's done. It's going to open up. Bottom end nirvana. It blows away anything I've owned (not that much honestly). I'm looking forward to rehearsal tonight to stretch its legs.

Very happy camper here. It was totally worth the wait.

Got my Super Twin yesterday! I can't really push it's capabilities yet but it has an incredible tone. The low end is so thick and strong that it feels almost foreign to me. It feels like I'm listening to a powerful PA sub that is specifically for great bass tone. My GK 700RB-II actually seems like it may be too weak for this cab if that makes sense. I feel like it wants a lot of power. I'm thinking of trading my GK for a Mesa D800 or saving up more for a Darkglass Microtubes. I currently gig a Darkglass amp that I borrow and it has the most incredible tone but I've heard the D800s sound great too.

+1 on the Darkglass MT. Sounds great with my SM at home. Can't wait to gig it with SM + BB2

Yikes! That's a shame. I have a surge protector because I know I should but I don't always use it or bring it. Cautionary tale.

But speaking of GK MB Fusion 800, I was just going to suggest that to @KickingBass that if he's looking for a new amp to replace the 700RB, the MBF800 might be worth looking at. It seems to sound great with my BB2 and BB2+SM set-up and the tube pre- in it gives a great hint of warmth that plays nicely with the clarity and precision of the BB2.

For whatever reason-- I haven't always been a GK fan-- but it seems to me that in general the GK's sound good with Barefaced. IMO the MB200 sounds great with the One10 and the SM. These are, I do admit, the only 2 GK models I've run through my cabs, so I don't rightly know about other models, for sure.

Tonight I get to drag out my somewhat bigger rig than usual (though I hesitate to call it "bigger" what with all the guys with an 8x10, or two 8x10 etc) which is the Barefaced Four10, powered by the Fender SB300. I just got lucky and picked up an affordable Sadowsky Metro a couple months ago so, so I am damn near ecstatic about tone. Sad > Super Bassman > Barefaced cab-- not to be crude but when I hear it it tickles my prostate. :)

My Super Twin has such a nice thick sound when the bass is boosted but I'm so unfamiliar with these cabs that I'm not quite sure how much I can push it. Is it normal for the speakers to move back and forth noticeably? My last cab had a grill cloth so I couldn't see the speakers. I'm able to actually put my volume knob pretty high and the volume is loud but I guess I thought that it would be really loud even with the volume knob set pretty low? Do I just need to feed it more watts? Maybe it just needs to break in more.

First congrats on the new super cab!

You should not need to worry about pushing these cabs, especially a 2x12" model, they'll take a lot and get stupid loud-- but with the one caveat-- I notice you mention "when the bass is boosted" ... any cab can be vulnerable with too much bass dialed in at high volume. This doesn't apply to you of course, but a while back there was a guy complaining about how his cab was worthless and was farting out etc.... then he casually mentioned something about having the bass knob on the bass all the way up while cranking the sh*t out of it. "There's yer problem, mister" As I refer to down below, break-in will add some low end.

Your cab will not in general "be louder" than other cabs at the same volume setting on the bass... amp, and its settings, figure into this too. Depending on what you were using before, don't expect louder, just better. The amp, and your instrument volume, is your "loud" control, so like you said-- feed it more watts. It can take plenty! Perceived loudness is another thing... a different cab might "seem" louder because of where it has bumps in its frequency response... these cabs are smooth all the way up and down. You can add that bump if you want with EQ... I like that these BF 12's don't have a "baked-in" EQ etc, but allow you to give or take the EQ/bump/etc.

But yeah, like you say, in any case, let it break in more... I'd say about 3 gigs, maybe 2 (or the equivalent) and it'll be fully broken in, will probably sound a little punchier, heftier in the lows.... so might sound "louder" than now. It's a beautiful thing when you hear it bloom and get even more awesome-sounding. I'd wait until that has happened before drawing too many conclusions.
