Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Who else uses a Mesa Subway D800 with their Barefaced? I brought my Four10 down to a local open mic last night because I'm friends with the house bass player, and we tried out his D800 through my cab and used it for the backline all night. I was blown away by the combo, and will probably end up with one myself. I could even potentially see selling my tube heads for it. My Four10 is 8 ohm so the amp would only put out 400 watts max, but had plenty of volume on tap and the low end was huge and punchy. Sure seemed like a great combo with my Spector.

I used my D800 with a 4ohm Two10. It was really good. I'm thinking about getting a second Two10 and a D800+

I must say, while there are many good-sounding amps, I don't know that I'd get rid of tube amps for another amp to use with the Four10. What tube amp(s) are you using with the Fuur10?

The Four10 sounds absolutely killer with my Fender Super Bassman 300, and Ampeg PF50T. But then again the Four10 also sounds great with my non-tube amps. By far my preference for the Four10 is the SB. I like my One10 with the PF50T a lot too.

I have a D800+ and have a Four10 arriving this week. I tested out this combination at Barefaced a few months ago and it was incredible

I have both a Mesa Prodigy and a V4B for tube amps currently. The Prodigy has been my main amp for the last year or so. Whatever I decide I will probably spend some time with both for a bit before selling anything off. I was just really impressed at the tubelike sounds coming out of the D800, and Mesa's warranty is fantastic. I had originally intended to sell off my PF500 and V4B at some point and replace them with a D800 as my backup, but I think I need to purchase one and spend a bunch of time with them all at this point.

I don't have a Mesa D800 regular or +, but I really like how my GK MB Fusion 800 sounds with the Four10. So yeah, I can see how a non-all-tube amp can fit perfectly. I should make a point to try the BF cab with a D800+ since now that's at least 2 of you giving that combo a thumbs up. But-- pretty happy with several amps with that cab, so I will prolly be lazy and not. Really, the Four10 sounds great with lots of amps, hard to go wrong.

I had an Eden 4x10 and a Fender 4x10 just taking up space since 1998, and now I'm down to a BB2 and an Eden 1x10. At most I'd grab another BB2 or even a midget. I love that it is so light, loud, clear and versatile. It's funny, but when I shopped for my PA system for the band, the weight of each speaker was the first thing I found myself looking at -- a function of having bad shoulders (one that just underwent surgery) and being in my 40's.

Don't listen to me but-- SM to add to your BB2 is my suggestion. Same awesome "big" rig when combined w/ your BB2 as 2xBB2's would be, but gives you more modular options. Stepping down from soapbox now.

I have both the BB2 and SM. I used to have a Prodigy, but always had a hard time dialing it in to my liking. I now use the D800 more than any of my other amps with the pairing.

Definitive answers:

1. Parallel, for daisy-chaining.
2. No.
3. No, as long as the live connectors at the amp end match the live ones at the cab end. So with most amps that would be 1+ 1- amp end and 1+ 1- cab end, but with bridged power amps it's usually 1+ 2+ amp end and 1+ 1- cab end. 2 pole speakons only have 1+ 1- so for bridged power amps you usually need a 4 pole speakon at the amp end.

The GBE1200 seems to be overkill to me. I have never used that amp, but I did know someone who used one to drive a 610 to extreme volume levels. So far every amp I have used with my Barefaced cabs has sounded great. I currently play an 800w Thunderfunk and an Aguilar TH500. These amps have never been over noon on the gain and master even in the loudest bands. Barefaced cabs make much more noise than other cabs. Maybe they are more sensitive but IME they are much better at turning watts into SPL.
