Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Hi all,

Any advice regarding which Barefaced cab to pair with the M900 ? I'm in the UK btw.

I currently have Bagend 12's (212 & 112) but really want something lighter for a 'one trip' solution ... Super Compact or TWO10 ?

Alex from Barefaced recommended a Super Twin but my current budget only stretches to a used SC but I'm more drawn towards the TWO10 for some reason ... thanks in advance guys :) .. I'll also post this on M900 thread if you don't mind.

@sifi2112 hi mate

I am in the UK as well.

Ignore Alex at you peril.

I spoke to him and I have a Supertwin and have used it with my DG head before I moved it on for something else. It's killer mate.
It is a one hand one trip cab at only 16-17kg, it is everything you want it to be.

Only reason (well not only) for the 10s is if you need the coloration and voicing of the cab.

Sell the bergs, add the money to what you may have, you will have a Supertwin!

What kind of sound do you want? More vintage or modern? Do you use a 5 string?

I play passive 4 string jazz type standard tuning .. not sure what tone I'm after re modern vs vintage but kinda like the way the Bagend grinds when i crank it :) but also like clarity tho not after high tweeter sounds, even tho I play in a heavy rock / metal band I often play cleaner chordal stuff higher up the neck with delay / flanger so need the clarity there really.

Tone is difficult to describe but sometimes you just hear something & that's it ! Guess I just like the Darkglass grit/grind :) also have B7K which I paired with GK 400RB-IV into Bagend 212 & it just roared (in a good way) .. getting older & 70lbs up n down stair to attic (loft) is a bit of a pain hence the quest for a lighter option ....

If you gave Alex all the info I'd sit monitoring the Classifieds until an ST came up.

His interest is a happy bass player, so will try to match you up with the right tools for the job.

I have a 2 SC's and they are a great sound. I wouldn't be able to make one cab work in my bands so if I went for the Two10 (which interests me) I'd have to get 2 of them. The Four10 would be cheaper but I prefer a sub 30lb lift.

How loud do you need to be? I have a M900 and a BB2. The combo is plenty loud for me. I think a SC is going to be almost as loud and deep, and you might not need the tweeter. However, that's nowhere near as loud as the dual 12" cabs.

The Two10 is nice. What is it about it that makes you more interested? Alex is pretty good with his advice and suggestions. That cab is about as loud as a Super Compact, but not close to a Super Twin.

For whats it worth I felt like I was in the same boat as you. I was on the fence about Big Twin II or Super Twin (no horn) I really loved size and weight of the ST. In the end I decided on the heftier BTII and will adjust compression driver to taste. Just received my BT2 but won't start using it for a few weeks.

Thanks for the responses guys much appreciated :) regarding how loud ? I don't know coz I've almost always played with pa support so guess stage volume is enough, re the TWO10 I guess I'm interested coz I've read on a few occasions that some have not bonded with the SC but then have with the TWO10 & I used to have sealed cabs which I liked & think this kinda mimics ... maybe just a single SC will do it with the power of the M900 :)

I think for me, it is a toss up between the Super Twin, the 610, or 2 Super compacts in terms of meeting my cab needs.....
In other words, you have the same problem as most of us in this thread - it's just too tempting to want to buy them all. ;)

Since I received my Four 10 my Berg NV215 has just stayed in the shed, and it is a very good cab.

I think one SC with the Mt900 would take care of stage monitor duties considering you have PA support.
At the very least, start with one & see if that does it for you - if you feel you need (want) to add another later, then there's that option 'further on down the road'.
