I purchased recently with PayPal, you should be aware their exchange rate is generally lower and you'll pay an excise for them to convert your dollars, I'm in Aus so it may well be different for you.

For those that purchased from the U.S. - did you pay with in british pounds through PayPal, and specifically PayPal Credit? If so did it give you the 6 month 0% interest option? I like to spread pricey gear purchases like this out assuming there's no interest.

I don't think you can do USA PayPal Credit when purchasing in UK £. However, we can bill USA customers in US $ if they need to use PayPal Credit, it's just a bit more complicated.

xav_paris, the thing to understand about the HF control is that it controls the crossover frequency (not the amount of high frequency content, but where it crosses over from the 12" driver to the HF driver), so setting it to the left, all the way counter clock wise, sets the crossover to it's lowest point, sending a greater range of high frequency content to the high frequency driver, while turning the knob to the right raises the crossover frequency, letting the main 12" driver handle more and more of the frequency range, including the high frequency content. So, turn left and you get a modern full range cab (brighter), turn right and you get more of an old school vibe (darker).

Personally, I tend to run mine in the center, maybe just a bit more to the left.

I tend to set it kind of high, so I don't get a lot of high end from the tweeter, just some "air". That setting fits my band best. But I like having the option to change the character of the sound (as the website describes it) to suit my needs. If my needs change and I want a tone that has more clarity, then I can lower the crossover point and get even more of it.

I have always kept mine at somewhere between completely off and no more than 50%.

For PA use, I have the control almost all the way up, but backed off a few degrees.

For just bass, I generally will dial it off if I'm using distortion. I might bring it up a bit for clean tones to add sparkle/air.

I'm with you on keeping the HF control knob rolled all the way off if I am using any type of distortion or even the overdrive circuit on my amp.

I have mine at 11. That gives me a lot of control using the controls on my bass that always has a little midrange punch. My amp is a Aguilar 500 and I mostly play my Fodera Yin Yang Std.

I found a post at one point about the FR800. It said that one of the DSP settings had a 100hz HPF built in when linking it to another cab. I can't seem to find that post now. Does anyone know which setting it is? The "Deep" setting maybe?

Hi everyone,

Just finished reading the last 50-something pages of this monster thread, watching all the available video footage on Barefaced cabs and mailing with Alex about acquiring some... and pulled the trigger on a BB3 and a BT3!!

I grew up on an SWR SM-400S and couple of Goliath cabs (2x 4x10 and a 2x10) I've moved to playing a lot with in-ears and a modeling setup but now would like to have an even more "invisible" amp than the SWR setup.
The amp is already switched out to a PA amp (Powersoft 4x600/2x1200W) but decided I'd like to try these cabs as well.

Very curious to try them out on various festivals coming summer!

I bought a second-hand Big Baby 2 from a friend. The cabinet had some problems with crossover, and he had it fixed by a local repairman before the sale. He plays double bass so he couldn't have noticed that either the horn isn't working, or the crossover regulator pot is wired backwards.

So what happens is that with knob on minimum (anti clock-wise) position there is much more high end than with knob turned to maximum position (clock-wise). Understanding that bass guitar isn't the best tool to diagnose it properly, I connected my phone to aux-in on my amp, and using the frequency generator app sweeped the frequencies through the whole range. This is what I've found:

• Knob turned fully to left (anti clock-wise): I can hear the sound up to 15-16 kHz (with some dips in betweeen due to my hear loss). I leaned my ears to the grill and I think I can hear horn taking over at around 3 kHz.
• Knob turned fully to right (clock-wise): I can hear the sound up to around 4.5 kHz.

My understanding is that it was supposed to be the other way around - hear the extended frequency range with knob fully open, and limited range with knob on minimum. Or the speaker that is supposed to go up to 4kHz is able to go higher than that and the horn doesn't work.
Or I got it totally wrong and it is supposed to be like this?

Is there anyone willing to repeat the test I did and let me know what you hear?

I'd be very surprised if there was any issue in the wiring. Without knowing what this repairman did, my guess is that he didn't know what he was dealing with and has made changes he shouldn't.

The first thing on your To Do list should be to email @alexclaber at BF and get the correct info.
