I think the BB3 addressed your observation #1 concern with the updated handle. I wouldn't mind a side handle on my Two10s to carry it long ways sometimes.

I do at times miss that bass, best playing Fender P I've ever owned but the neck was a little too chunky for me. I actually matched the Two10s blue baffle to that bass. Luckily I have other blue basses.

You also have a great eye. That is a One10s sitting there. After a break that day I switched out the BB2 for the One10 to try together but forgot to take a pic. It definitely added something to it but I liked the BB2 and Two10s for the added volume and bottom end. I actually plan on using the 3x10 setup in November for a medium sized bar that I won't have PA support. I really like the height to bring my sound closer to my ears.

I have almost no reason to ever sell my BB2's for anything else but, if anything tempts me, it's the handles on the BB3's.

I also have a One10 and have considered adding a Two10 to do what you described. Would love to hear your impressions after that gig.

This number doesn't look right.

This is the formula I use:
(X x Y)/(X + Y) = Z
X= 8 ohm
Y= 12 ohm
Z= 4.8 ohm

I believe the formula is 1/ (1/a)+(1/b)+(1/c)...

1/((1/8)+(1/12)+(1/12)) = 3.43

edit: this is likely the same formula as yours. The scenario in question includes two 12ohm cabs rather than one.

I'm going to go for it. At worst I unplug it and use the pair of Two10S' by themselves and deal with not being loud enough.

My band seriously needs to invest in a sub. We've been talking about it but still want to maintain a small footprint and simple load in. Most decent subs are pretty big in the grand scheme of things.

Not sure what your band has for a PA but we have 15" EV's and I go through them all the time. We recently added a 1x12 sub which adds a little. Never honestly needed more bottom end for a gig overall. I do our sound and foh always sounds solid. Definitely not chest thumping but the kick and bass come through nicely in our setup.

Maybe I'll try to convince them to give it a try. The BL is somewhat old school in some of his thinking, bass will blow my speakers!

What's the consensus on mixing 10's and 12's?

I'm curious if using my BB2 paired with a pair of Two10S cabs would work the way I want/need.

I have an outdoor gig today, it's a large space to cover. We have no PA support so my rig needs to carry the bass. I typically use my NV610 and it covers it just fine. However, the load in sucks and the place is a mud pit. Using the Barefaced cabs would be preferable if I could, but I know the pair of Two10S cabs won't handle it by themselves which is why I'm asking about adding in the BB2 to the mix.

I own a Supertwin, SuperCompact and one10. I cases where I 'think' my SuperCompact is probably enough, but some doubt, I always throw the one10 in the car. I havent needed it yet, but would not hesitate to add it to the Super Compact. At least in my house it sounds just fine together.

Yeah, so it sounds totally awesome mixed together like this. It's not something I need to do often but it works very well for the purpose right now.

Lol. When I first plugged in for line check it was really loud. I'm sure lots were able to hear it.

That's a small inlet of the Long Island Sound on the CT shore line.

Summer '22 recap:

Did my first double bass gig yesterday with the small cab (BBIII). A small outdoor wedding reception with piano and acoustic guitar. Sounded super lovely in combination with the TC Electronic BH500.

For a bar gig doing Police/Sting cover songs the BH500 is too light to my ears (starts choking really fast) and there the 'big' amp (a 2,400W 1U P.A. amp) did handle the job better.

(about that BH500... what an amazing piece of kit for such a low price :-O )

Did a few louder festival gigs with the BTIII and got loads of compliments on how good/loud/light/balanced that thing sounds. I myself am super happy with the weight and sound!

On one gig where I didn't put the amp on top of the BTIII the cab was about half a meter back at the end of the concert


Last few days I've been redoing my big pedalboard and testing out different sound through both cabs and amps and again very pleased with how those "made at home" sound translate on a stage and when playing back a FOH-out recording.


Overall: *VERY* pleased with my decision to go for a BT3 and BB3 for different sized venues.

Now to get my old SWR stack sold....

My rig from last night. I used it more as a monitor as the bass was in the fronts. It was just loud enough and I was really happy with my sound. Now, do I get another One Ten, a Two TenS or just go with an SC?

Yes, one BB and one BT - had the idea of a single 12 with and one without the horn (to double up as a BT3) but I'm happy with how it is now.

Part of how the the 10's color the sound (when pushed) is cab-induced cone distortion. You'll never get that with an EQ.

I never push any of my gear.

And I've been told I always sound pretty much the same, no matter what bass, amp or cab I'm using! That's either a good thing or not. I haven't decided yet.

So with the right bass and amp I'd say you can get close.

not in my experience. I owned 2 Four10's and they sound distinctly different than the BT3 I currently own.

The bt3 is a really fantastic cab though. I've had mine for 3 weeks. They put out what you put in - uncolored and really loud if needed. They sound great at low volume and when they make the house shake. Using pre amp eq and different filtering& drive pedals (and different basses ) they faithfully reproduce what is thrown at them. Outside of my b-15r, I don't think I'll use another rig.

I've watched Alex's videos on the 210s ,the SC and the Big Baby. The SC sounds closer to my Bergantino HD 112's. Wondering if I use the drive circuit on my Forte HP amp would that get me closer to the BF 10's?
