Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

I quote Alex :
Super Twin
If you love the tone in all scenarios but just want a smaller alternative then the Super Com- pact is the best choice. If you want something with greater treble clarity and smaller then the Super Midget and Big Baby II are the obvious choices – the SM is the smallest but the BB2 has greater accuracy and bigger lows. If you want something with more treble and/or more bass and equally loud then the Big Twin II is the best choice.

Big Baby II
If you love the tone but want a louder single cab then the Big Twin II is the answer. If you need something louder but don't need the accuracy of the Big Baby II then the Super Twin is the right choice. If you want something even smaller then the Super Midget is the way to go.

I know The Magellan: I would personally go for big twin 2 under 4 ohms (or 410's from barefaced) and lower the action of the tweeter
I personally dislike Eich but it is not a judgement !
The issue is that I have no idea if I need the tweeter. Playing at home I kinda want more note definition, but at rehearsal I think I have enough highs in the mix. It depends on what pickup mode I use. For parallel I kinda want more note definition, running in outer coils mode I am ok.

Eich T-900: I have no idea how it sounds, I found it very cheap, it's about 1kg lighter and smaller than Magellan, so I wanted to try it out. People talked about using Puma 900 with success so I thought I'd give it a try since it's supposed to be pretty similar.

You can always adjust the Barefaced tweeter so most of the frequencies go to the drivers not the tweeter, nothing you can do to add high end response to the cabs with no tweeter. I do not recommend mixing cabinets without driving them using a stereo power amp, though. If you mix a four ohm and 8 ohm cabinet the volume from each is going to be unequal. I balance the difference in volume via the blend knob on my Eden Navigator, I can also do this at the power amp but prefer to leave the power amp gain on each channel of my Crest ProLite 3.0 maxed out. The Eden is able to send a mono signal to each cabinet (or stack of cabinets) independently which I can then blend at the preamp, it is one of the features I like on the Navigator along with the powerful and sensitive EQ.

I sat in on a couple of songs at a party last year using the bass players Tech Puma 900. I was not familiar with the amp. The Puma 900 sounded good and most importantly set basically flat my bass sounded exactly like what I expect it to sound like. Based on the Puma I am interested in trying the Eich 1000, I think that model may have a way to run two cabinets separately and balance the output. The Puma 900 didn't but for a brief encounter I enjoyed playing through it. I found the Puma 900 to be a very bright and present sounding amp which you may or may not like. For comparison I didn't care for the dark tonality of the Mesa D800 when I gigged through one, great head if you like the way it sounds but the Puma was closer to what I like to hear. I found the eq controls powerful and responsive, IMO it is a very modern sounding amp.

Ultimately though you have to make your own decision nobody on a forum can pick out gear for you and with any new gear purchase there is always the chance it won't be exactly what you have in mind. You really won't know if you have the right gear until you use it on a few gigs in different environments. Very difficult to evaluate gear at home or at a music store. Good luck!

This is a fantastic knowledge, thanks for sharing. I also had similar ideas.
Since Super Twin isn't very tall I could stack BB2 on it since its only 3cm difference in depth.
I am doing parkour between wanting to go minimal with just ST, very light class D and small pedalboard or go all in with bigger cab or two cabs and stereo rack poweramp + helix rack. It's hard living with so many options, GAS is real.
Is the main concern, requiring height I guess about hearing yourself, because imho with the Supertwin you and everyone else will hear you just fine....again imho. I never had to stack my super compact on top of my Supertwin to hear myself or be any louder than the ST can do

I've had both and Eich and a Puma. They're great amps. I liked them as much as anything else I've tried. I don't have any personal experience using them with Barefaced cabs, but I have no reason to think they wouldn't work well together.

You have answers on his website Which bass cab?

But I think you have to test , because in words it is difficult to explain
BB2 : loudness and much db spl 8 ohms
ST : more loudness and huge db spl 4 ohms

with a Mesa d800 and a bb2 I can tell you I have plenty of it

Alex is a good advisor
It looks like the website has been updated. This link is quite useful.
Which bass cab?
I like the smaller size and weight of the Super Twin vs Big Twin 3 but have been on the fence because it doesn't have a tweeter. I always dial them back just to provide a bit of treble extension without being harsh, but it's nice to have the option. I was going to write Alex and ask him if a Super Twin T was possible but there it is. This would be a one and done with my Berg Forte HP.
I'd really like to see a front shot of one if available. :hyper:

That's an interesting link. It looks like the Super Midget has been renamed the Super Mini T. Or is it a totally new speaker?

Let me phrase it as: I don't know if it would give me the sound / feel results I imagine in my head.

My BB3 with tweeter has labels at full counterclockwise being "off" and full clockwise is "max tweeter". My understanding of the tweeter at least on the Big Baby is the tweeter dial is more like a volume knob in that you don't have to use the tweeter at all if you don't like it, just turn it off. Or dial in a little or a lot. Alex recommended the SC for me - he was probably right, but I like having versatility (even if I haven't touched the tweeter knob after setting it to 10 oclock when I first got it - lol).

That is opposite to the bb2 where full counter clockwise is actually maximum tweeter and full clockwise adjusts the crossover frequency to basically switch off the tweeter. Are you sure you have that right?

I have a small question, my BT2 usually moves around the stage while I'm playing, specially when it's a loud stage as it was today.... what's the best way to prevent that?

I have used these rubber mats to dampen vibration for heads and cabs…they are inexpensive and you can cut them to size.
