I am going to be playing an outdoor gig for a housing association. I have an Aguilar TH 500 and a BB3. I won't be going through a PA system, it'll only be my amp and cab.
I read a lot of stuff that "any speaker can be blown with any amp" that makes no sense to me, but at $1100 for a BB3, I am not interested in testing this theory. Lots and lots of comments in the TH threads talk about them clipping (at least the clipping light goes off) but supposedly it's not a danger to the cab.
Bottom line, I'd like advice on general settings to give me a nice clean sound (not into distortion, nor does it fit with the music we play), a fat bottom - is that possible in open air with this rig?- but not blow my cab, if I even need to worry about this. I'm not sure the wattage of the PA system that will be handling vocals and 2 acoustic guitars. The lead has a 90 watt Mesa Boogie and he likes to play loud. Drums won't be miked.
A couple years ago I used a TC BG 250 and was loud enough, but only due to cutting bass and adding midrange.
Any help appreciated and if you have some specific advice on settings for the TH that's icing on the cake.
