Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Just got back from a 4 hour rehearsal. All I can say is I'm knocked out by the tone :-). This room is almost all stage, and it's been a nightmare to get clean low end. Last week wasn't too bad with the 1212L but the low end was quite indistinct and lacking clarity. When I used my RT10 in the past the low end was good but lacked upper clarity.
Today it was clean, punchy, articulated and not an ounce of boom. I was surprised to find I had the tweeter all the way, but didn't get any harshness, not even with my VTBass DI pushing the high end a bit.
Even my drummer said he had never heard me sound as good as I did today, and that was after the first number. Not something he has done much of over the past 12 years.

Volume wasn't an issue, but I'll have to wait until the next gig to find out how hard I need to push the amp.

Overal, 10/10 and I think I have finally fihnd the tone I didn't know I wanted.

I did see your ad on Basschat but i wasnt sure if i would like the cab so wanted to take advantage of the 30 day trial period from Alex.
I actually wanted to go for a Big Twin 2 but the girlfriend (singer and driver) said we wouldn't be able to get it in the car. Glad she spoke up really, as it would have been overkill for my gigs. A louder head yes, but this cab is all im going to need right now.

I've been using a diy sealed vertical 410 at home lately and just am loving the tone, dispersion and clarity. It kills but, it may not be enough to handle the really loud gigs where you need the extra low end. Vertical stacking off course, reduces the lowmid floor coupling alot. So, I decided to put in an order for a pair of retro two10 4ohm cabs because, I think they would have the best chance of having enough output stacked vertical, or even using one on it's side with the other stacked vertical on top of it. So Alex, tell me, how do you change a wiring whip and turn a 12ohm cab into a 4ohm cab? Or, are you using 6 ohm drivers and figure that two in paralled for 3ohms is close enough? Or do you actually have 8ohm drivers for the 4ohm version?

Still using/loving my supertwin. I had a pair of them stacked vertically but, found that the mids were alittle hard at ear level and I lost too much lowmid heft to make it worth bringing a second cab. So, Im thinking the retro cabs may sound better at ear level, due to their voicing.

Interesting question on the 12 to 4 conversion by changing the wiring harness. I've wondered as well.

I know this does cause some confusion. But if you live in the USA and buy a Barefaced cab you don't make an overseas payment to us - you send your own American Dollars to an American bank account in New York, which is held by American Express (the account holder) with the bank JP Morgan. Just like if you had a friend in New York who banks with JP Morgan that you needed to send some money to, except the friend is called A.M.Express. Once Amex get your dollars they give us the equivalent amount of pounds sterling, so it works out better on exchange rates and avoids international transfers. It's nothing to do with Amex cards, totally different part of their business. Hope that helps!

Bought my 2 bb2 via money transfer, no prob except a long delay between payment and delivery to the seller, but just with the first purchase. The second one worked pretty well in every aspect and Alex has been lightning fast in shipping the item.

In all honesty, i always found that the payment methods are a bit wierd, at least. The gimmick of american express accounts or the additional cost of paypal...

Anyway, the cabs are awesome and i will buy again in the future, so, ok for me

Though these are different "species" of Barefaced cabs, I agree with Erik/Lownote that the Super Midget/One10 combination of modern and vintage sounds magical. I can't imagine needing more volume or better tone than these two cabs produce. Each is the best cab I've ever played through when measured by its small size, light weight, huge output and incredible tone.

I received both cabs from Alex & Co this month. I don't need both of them but as none is available close to me and there is no 30 day eval/return option in the USA, I purchased both to try them out. I've made my decision on which best suits my needs ... but that will be covered in another thread ;)

Thank you, Alex, for designing and making available the most musical compact cabs on the market, IMHO.
