Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Wow, that's a Rolls Royce of rigs. What amp are you using?

Indeed!

I fired up my Big Twin 3 in the house and it literally knocked pictures off the wall....and I was no where near maxing it out. I can't imagine needing anything more than that.

But better to have and not need...than need and not have. :)

I was able to take it to our practice space and play around with the cabs today. Initial Impressions are good. They can definitely take the power of the Bergantino. I cranked that amp to around 3 o'clock and they had no issues. They sound great and I'm glad I bought the extra 12 because there is no way I would have been happy with just the super twin. It just doesn't have the heft that I'm looking for and get from the Megoliath. To be honest neither do both of the Barefaced cabs together but they are in the ballpark. Next up is practice next week. That's when I'll know whether I made the right choice or an expensive error LOL.

Whether break-in is a myth or not I think give them a couple of hours of hard hitting time. I hope you have ear plugs and diapers :)

Sweet! And I love the bass, too. My SR Special 5HH is a beast ('specially through my Barefaced cabs!).

Man, I dream of reaching the level where we play gigs in places as nice as your practice space! :D :bassist:

One thing you'll find is that the Barefaced 12's LOVE to have some EQ. Don't be afraid to dial in some bottom end. They will gladly accept levels of EQ that your Megoliath just mechanically can't.

Yeah it's ideal. If I turned the camera around you'd see a full bar. Drummer owns a construction business and built the space up in his pole barn / workshop. It's pretty great.

Yeah I think I have some work to do on dialing in the head with these cabs and Jim Bergantino pointed out that I might not have set my preamp gain right. So I'm going to sort that all out next week. It really is crazy the amount of volume these can put out. When I tested out their handling of higher power these cabs were easily louder than the Megoliath. It was also readily apparent that they do like a lot of power. They sound great at lower volumes but they really seemed to open up when I pushed them. The tone is exactly what I was hoping for too.

Had a second chance today to put the cabs through their paces and reworked the preamp gain and EQ on the Forte HP and things couldn't have gone any better. The cabs had a ton of oomph and just sounded fantastic. Easily keeps up and exceeds what the Megaliath could do. I am still very glad I got both the super twin and super 3rd because I don't think the super twin alone could have replaced the Megoliath at the levels we play at. Really really happy though with everything and I can't thank the team at Barefaced enough. We weren't able to practice today but next week I should be able to really see how they sit in the mix.

I had a feeling you were playing today. I'm down here in Florida and my house felt like a low level earthquake was in the making. I'm glad to know it was just your band!!

You know I had a problem with the head moving around a lot with the megoliath but the head stays put with the barefaced cabs. I was really surprised.
Well designed bracing, however I still use the perfect amp pad...cheap, easily cut to size, non skid and vibration absorbing... Evans SoundOff Tom Mute - 16-inch
