This video: Shows the installation of a "DIY retrofit kit" if i am not mistaken. Not the one asked for by Alvin, but still.
That DIY retrofit makes sense. Adding a 4/12 ohm switch is a minor wiring modification that doesn't cut holes in the enclosure or compromise the internal bracing, so quite a bit different.
I can totally understand; it may just be a style thing.
I have a Two10ST and a One10T - what I can say that it's not about the volume of the highs. According to Barefaced, the Two10S (no tweeter) still goes up to ~6kHz, which still registers as "highs" for a bass. Even with the tweeter on my Two10ST dialed completely "off", I can verify it's easy to crank the highs to ear-splitting volumes.
Rather, it's the tone of those highs. I play mostly vintage-voiced Fenders with flatwounds. With the tweeter fully "on" it just uncovers that glassy top-end of the strings. It sounds a lot more like the 60s/70s "direct-into-the-board" clear sound that I'm trying to emulate. Without the tweeters, it sounds good, but it's more of a muffled "amped" sound instead.
Again, it depends hugely on the sound you're going for. Whenever I play with a Stingray with roundwounds, heck yeah I turn those tweeters down! I don't want my ears bleeding...
I'm about to purchase another BF cab. I am presently using a Super Midget which I absolutely love the tone I'm getting with it. After hearing the BBIII and you were in my shoes, would you add a second SM or get the BBIII? I already get all of the ergonomic differences, mainly interested in what will give the most sound wise. In other words, 2 Super Midgets vs 1 Big Baby III. Thanks!!
I've experienced an interesting phenomenon with my Two10ST and Four10S. I was having a really hard time dialing in some high end with my Lakland Geezer bass, especially with the p pickup only. It's a great tone for 70s classic rock, but I can't get the attack of like a punk p bass tone. I've used the bass with other cabs before and never had that issue. So I tried other basses (I have plenty of options), and found that my other p- type basses (Ibanez Blazer and a parts bass) can get that tone option I'm looking for. Really strange! Something about that pickup or pickup placement I guess!
Long-winded post just to say that I love the Barefaced 10s (besides that issue) and now I need to get rid of my other cabs in order to buy a BF 12 cab

I'm in a similar situation, have a sm and desire a bb3 after having heard one in person with my rig. I'm going bb3 when I get the funds, I think the one big or little cab will cover most situations, and occasionally the bb3 and sm stack will be called into duty (the stack is bf approved....).
I'm more than happy with a SM + SC pairing. Tonewise they put out what you put in, adding the second cab just puts out more .
I have both an sm and a bb2. Great combo. I love the sm for its size and it gets most use as a rehearsal amp. The bb2 definitely has more lows although the sm can get there with more power. Since I have both a Forte up and an Aggie 751 power is not a problem. I have done several outdoor gigs with the two stacked and never had any issue with volume or tone. Given the choice now I would change nothing and stick with the sm and bb2 (or bb3 as it is now).
Patiently waiting for a BareFaced bass amplifier to exist.
I have an SC, SM and BB2. The SC/SM sounds great to me for general use. I use the BB2/SM for loud Rock Blues bands, open air gigs or where I just want more oomph. The only pairing that has never grabbed me is 2 SM's.
A simplistic analogy, the SC/SM is a P bass, the BB2/SM is a Jazz bass. Does that make sense? I think of the SC and SC/SM pairing as a workhorse. The BB2 adds a wider frequency range and has more low end authority.
I seem to have talked myself into recommending the BB3!
Received an email today that my BBIII is ready to ship. Excited to get it and hear how it sounds as I bought this on TB faith having never heard one in person before.
Must be shipping day at Barefaced. I got my email notice for my One10 today too. Should be here Tuesday.
You will not be disappointed.
Pro tip: give the driver a bit of time to 'open up'. Mine was rather stiff sounding at first. Played for a 30min, then ran audio thru it from my computer for another 30min or so. Nothing loud, just enough to get the cone moving a bit. Came back and it was louder and had more extension.
