The only Barefaced product I have experience with is the Super Compact and even that is limited to three months of use, a handful of rehearsals and gigs, but I wouldn't let the "accuracy" descriptors of the 12" cabs deter you from considering them. When I'm playing through the SC the timbre is warm and musical. Best of luck on your quest!

Yes… bridged, but I'm using the HPF/LPF on the q-strip and not on the Crown. Mine is the XLS-1502 so 1550@4ohms… yes I'm careful with the volume! With the filters and compression to tame spikes, I'm well protected from nuking the cab and (some semblance of) common sense takes care of the rest.

Don't mistake common sense for this rig not getting brutally loud. Sound guy the other night understood the assignment at a Stoner/Doom show and trusted us with our volume judgement. After our set he came up to start breaking down the stage and says to us… "You guys were loud as shag, but you were equally loud so I just turned up the PA and let you do your thing!"

I think 1500w is just perfect with that cab. My 1002 has same chassis and weight and fan barely runs even with 3/4 power, sometimes only slow turns. How about yours cooling fan?

I've ran an xls-1502 bridged into a pair of bb3s. I set the integrated hpf to 31hz. I've pushed that combo pretty hard and the cabs took it fine. Awesome to throw down 1500 watts. Setups like that redefine what a "wall of sound" is.

I finally got a BF cab. Got one used from a TBer, Two10S. Previously I had been using either PA speakers with my HX Stomp or my GK MB115-II combo. So far I love the tone of the 10CR speakers. The cab sounds much better in my small practice room in my house than other stuff I've played in there. It doesn't really seem to sound boomy compared with the other ones whether in vertical or horizontal position. I'm not sure why that is? I guess it must roll of just the right way or something? At the same time it puts out a very pleasing low end that doesn't sound boom or flabby. Plenty of high character for my needs too. I think I know what people mean when they talk about a "tight" or "punchy" low end now. My GK MB115-II sounds pretty decent but it both sounds boomier and clankier than I like at the same time in comparison.

My one concern now is how to know if I'm putting too much power into it with distorted patches from my Stomp. I have a BB802 (bought that from the TBer as well.) I guess I was assuming that I need to let my ears be the guide as far as too much? I watched Alexes videos on amps/wattage, and it makes it confusing to try to figure out how much power I'm really putting into it (based on dials) since it depends on the input signal, gain and master volume. I've never had an unpowered bass cab before, so I'm just mulling all that over.

Ditto. I have had a SC for a few years now, and whatever I compare it with I never want anything else. I've A/B tested with Yorkville 2x10 1x15 and TC Electronic 2x10. In each case, it's as if the cab has a blanket thrown over it. The Barefaced SC is both clearer and louder, with better-defined highs and lows.

I haven't made A/B comparisons (excepting with my Ampeg SB12, to see about matching timbres...it's a personal thing), but enjoy the same efficient, clear, full range sound you mention. There's a low key jazz gig coming up on Thursday and often use a GK MB150S for those, but I'm looking forward to hearing the SC with amplified string bass.

Just got shipping confirmation for the Super 3rd I ordered. Going to be using this to make a small stack with my old Compact 15, looking forward to hearing how they play with eachother.

Ordered 11 weeks ago tomorrow, so not too bad a wait - well within the 10-14 week wait time listed for 12XN cabs.

I'm not even sure I need it, but it's been over a decade since I bought the Compact and it's high time I added to it. Imagine the two together will be as loud as I'll never need on stage.
