The Acoustic Image and SM would kick!. It was a bit of a struggle choosing between the SM and the SC, but the simplicity of the SC won out.
You may well be right, but I thought I had read on here somewhere that it was achieved by not having the whizzer type extension on the cone.....if you know what I mean....ummm. Perhaps Alex would like to chip in and clarify things just to satisfy my curiosity.
I've ordered some two10 cabs.I'm hoping to get some real world feedback on how to set them up. Two cabs at 12 ohms each equals 6 ohms. I'm curious with both tube and solid state amps where you are plugging these into…2 ohm, 4 ohm, or 8 ohm mode. My tube amp takes all 3, but my Magellan is capable of either 4/8 ohm mode, or 2.67 ohm mode. I already own some cabs similar to the 12" Barefaced sound and wanted some "old school" punchy 10's to mate with my all tube 150 watt head. I know I can get expert advice from Alex (he's awesome!), but really would like to hear from a few people who have gigged them extensively, especially with a tube amp…thanks!

I have an EA Micro 300, and a Micro 550, as well as the Clarus-SL from that review, and I agree that the Clarus-SL would be a fantastic option and would carry on the small size and clean, clear tone and output of the EA Micro 550.
The heat sink design of the Acoustic Image, as opposed to a fan, is a major draw.
I got a Mesa D-350 last year. Besides loving the tone & the ease of use & the fire-and-forget nature of it, I am consistently blown away by its heat management. It doesn't have a fan, so it sheds all its heat through its skin, but I've never felt it be more than a degree or two above ambient, even at the end of a gig when I pushed it hard.
Being a peacenik, I didn't look too deeply into that...
The fan on the EA Micro550 can be a bit annoying in a quiet room although the noise is completely unnoticeable on gigs.

Sorry. Stupid reference to a total mess of a tread about fabless amps, albeit with some good info. Found it while researching Acoustic Image.
I have not been searching especially for amps without fans, but strangely my shortlist seams to be lacking them. AI, PJB,GR and Trickfish. Demeter and Mesa is more of a hassle to get in Europe.
My reasoning is something clean and light with enough power to drive an SMT or two properly for bass and guitar, acoustic and electric. Just change the pedalboard when changing instrument.
Joined the club with a Super Compact. The sound is fantastic and it is freakin' loud!
I hope that besides being "freaking loud" this BF cab has the TONE you want. That Ampeg/SC combo should be sweeet! Congrats!

The latest crown XLS amps are fantastic power amps for bass or PA. What preamp are you using?

Tech 21 Q-Strip after 2 stacked Damnation Audio distortions. I play in a sludge/doom metal band, and the Tech takes everything I like about the sound of those distortions and makes it just… better. The Crown is a nuke, I never go much above 12:00 on the gain (1550w bridged) and it's a chest punch 50 feet away (in the words of last night's sound guy). That Retro610 rocks. In every way imaginable.
