Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Had the first gig in a difficult room with the new cab (and new bass! - '55 King!) tonight and it performed admirably. One trip schlep from the car, MBOL, solos rang out clear as a bell, pleeeeeenty of headroom left to explore - couldn't ask for anything more! Happy New Year, you lot.

The best 12 I've ever played. Enjoy!

I was on BF order page and put in a couple different cabs as a sample order.
Both times it shows 'shipping included' on the check out page.

Does this mean I am looking at the final total price? Or should I expect to see some type of VAT, Sales Tax or even Tariff cost added on to my final purchase price when I go to pay the total cost.

I did email Alex couple weeks ago and he replied to a that email about cab parts I inquired about. No cost of parts or shipping were discussed in that email.
Thanks for any helpful replies.

Oh yeah, it's a club. 😎
My current BF cabs, found used locally on CL. Rarer than hens teeth out here.

There shouldn't be any sales tax or VAT if you're outside the UK AFAIK, but you may have to pay some import duty. Possibly not even that, however; I can't find any record of having to pay it for my Barefaced BB3. Though I know I did have to pay it for the Shuker bass I got in 2023.

Shipping is indeed included in the price (but make sure to set the region you're from on the order page, to see the applicable price - shipping to the EU will be higher than to the UK, and across the Atlantic it will be even more).

If you're located in the EU, there's no import duty (even after Brexit), but you have to pay your own country's VAT (Barefaced doesn't charge UK VAT for exports, naturally, so that is subtracted from the price beforehand); plus, the courier company will charge you a small fee for handling the import process.

Eg:
My One10 with cloth grill is 489 GBP (565 EUR) if you're in the UK.
If you're ordering from the EU, British VAT (20%) is deducted (but shipping is more), so the price is 429 GBP (or around 495 EUR); the VAT in my country is also 20% - so, around 99 EUR; the courier company charged about 10 or 12 EUR for import handling (forgot the exact number); so the overall cost was about 605 EUR (which means, if you deduct the handling fee, shipping must have been around 28-30 EUR more to the EU than to the UK, which seems quite reasonable - I definitely have paid more before, for shipping other, similar size/weight items, from the UK to me).

Thanks.. I'm in U.S, Texas. Doubt most of those would apply. I just didn't see any other costs in my order check out as I thought I might.
So maybe some fees/costs will be added by other means.
Well for now still trying to shop on TB classifieds. U.S. Con ship fees these days for even light cabs are up there $$ too. 🫩

Fed Ex hit me with 15.5% tax a few weeks after delivery for my Big 24. I'm in the US.

1. You're not paying anything extra - you're just seeing this cost separately

If you buy a speaker cab or effects pedal where you live, then you will pay the relevant sales tax. And if it was made overseas (often the case, even with local brands) then you'll be paying import duty too. So buying direct from Barefaced, yes you'll see this cost separately but if you buy a similar (but inferior) thing from a shop you'll be paying those costs, it'll just be hidden in the retail price!

2. We won't charge you VAT if you're outside the UK.

We charge our UK customers 20% VAT on our products. We do not charge VAT when shipping to any other countries, this is automatically deducted from the price when you select any other region (although obviously the shipping cost, which is included in the price, increases as the cab travels further). We make everything here in our micro factory in Brighton, UK and everything is shipped direct from here to you. Now that the UK has left the EU we no longer include VAT in the price for EU customers - instead you pay that VAT to the courier when you receive the product.

3. Import duty is v low in many countries.

Our cabs and pedals are wholly made in the UK, so if you're in the EU, there is no import duty (due to the post-Brexit trade agreement implemented in 2021) and the VAT is around 20% (it varies by country). For more EU info, scroll to the bottom!

The import duty charged on loudspeaker cabinets and effects pedals from the UK is quite small, just a few percent in the countries that we mostly sell to (USA, Canada, EU, Australia, NZ, Japan). The other charge that is likely is the sales tax or value added tax (VAT) that is applicable to the country that you live in.

If you're in the USA the total import duty and sales tax was only around 5% (no guarantees but that's what we'd seen over the last decade) until April 2025. The USA added 10% import duty to most products from most countries in April 2025, including anything we're sending from Barefaced in the UK.

In Canada it's about 20%.

I can't remember any others of the top of my head but do please let us know what it cost where you live and we'll add more info to this page.

So in the USA, it looks like 15% +/- a bit depending on your state's sales tax.
