Must admit getting my BB2 has renewed my interest in playing live. Even rehearsals are fun now.
I enjoy playing live but it's a little more exciting right now
I'll probably have the BT2 early next week. Just enough time to break it in a little before that fridays gig. I'll be comparing it with my pair of retro 210's, nv610, eminence sc2010 loaded sealed 610 and maybe the vertical sealed 410. I'm going to do a pile of videos all at once so that my strings are in the same condition, etc.

I'm coming from using great cabs already (CN212, NV610T), so they're really just different flavors of awesome to me right now. They (the BB2'S) are taking everything I'm throwing at them so far but I definitely need more gig situations just to really dial in my whole rig and get used to the BB2's.
I've played hundreds of gigs with the CN212 so I always know what to expect no matter what amp or bass I'm using and can easily dial in everything for whatever room we're playing.

I came from a position of using stock Ashdown cabs so the difference was much more profound compared with my Super Twin. I used to worry about whether my previous cabs would cope and often they didn't, so to have something that I don't have a second thought about is quite something. Enjoys the BB2's!
Splimcity, I would be really interested to hear a bit more about how the Barefaced cab compares to Ashdown ones. I'm a longtime Ashdown user (ABM410, ABM 210's, 115, VS212 with ABM500 or LB30) and am considering a Barefaced. Which Ashdown gear do you have experince of and how do they compare in terms of volume, punch and low and high end?
Interesting idea... my SuperTwin has moved me back to a Jazz Bass with rounds, after playing a PJ with flats for quite a while. It just sounds 'better' and I've been a hardcore flats user for a few years!
12 ohm loom is in the US as of Friday. Let's see how long it takes to get to Hollywood.
I'm curious how this will change things. I'm hoping that it lets me push the pre in my amp a bit harder. I have a Demeter with only one volume knob (not a pre & master). My gut says the 800w head into the 4 ohm cab starts pushing lots of air before the pre gets cooking. At 12 ohms the front end on the amp might be able to ramp up a bit more before I hit eviction-notice levels.
It also means I can stack the BB2 and 210 with my 4 ohm min head. Not that I plan to run things that way, but it will be interesting to see how they pair up.

So, when is barefaced going to put out an amp that will properly power their big cabs. I have been sorely disappointed by most every amp that wasn't at least an honest 1000 watts. Not ones that are rated at 1000 but put out around 700 in actuality. These cabs need a proper bass amp!
I've liked the B2000 the best so far. Tonally, not my absolute favorite, but pretty good and a lot of lightweight power. A really good gig amp overall.
That should be a good test. Looking forward to it. Will you showcase the B2000? It looks like a lot of bang for the buck.
Looking forward to my BB2 and SM shipping this week. Can't wait to try them with the Genzler Magellan, the SL900 and the Subway 800, and compare them to my CN212.

Has anyone tried the BB2 with a SM? I have a BB2 and would like to add a second cab so I can go 4 ohm and get some more headroom out of my amp. A second BB2 would seem like the obvious choice but if the SM sounds just as good and is lighter and a little cheaper in cost, it may make the most sense as a second cab. Unless of course a second BB2 amply blows away the BB2 + SM combination.
Haven't tried one yet, but the Peavey MiniMEGA looks like it has a really decent power section in it: 700W @ 8ohm & 1000W @ 4ohm (RMS).
The reason the Dem preamps & heads only have one vol. control is they are designed to stay linear through the gain/attenuation process.
The tone shouldn't really change much at all.
My former 201S combined with a Berg HT322 would get just a tad bit overdriven using the 120Hz setting on the bass control, but that's about it & I think the cab contributed to that a bit as it had to be cranked pretty good to get there.
The Electro-Harmonix tubes seemed to help with that as well, over something like a Philips JAN 12AXWA which sounds cleaner & more balanced.

TBer Lownote has used that combination and commented on it. It may have been in the Barefaced One10 thread, not sure. IIRC, he didn't care for it that much at first but after a second go-round he did. His comments are usually fairly detailed.
So my experience has been saying I like the J bass sound and passive Spector with Super Singles going into the 210, and the P bass going into the BB2 with my Demetet VTBP M 800D. Tonight, I decided to try the P with the 210 and dust off my Idiotbox Blower pedal. The result was quite nice. I'm a fan of that combo, and the only reason the pedal had been off my board was because I wasn't a fan of it with the BB2 sound.
Interesting that the scooped 210 curve and the scooped single coil sound work together, and so does the addition of the scooped Blower when I'm running the P bass. Not sure what overlap there is in the frequency dips and bumps of those combos, but those seem to be the arrangements that work best for me so far.
