Official Devon Bass Club...

So I just picked up this beauty today. Bought it locally from a bass friend who had it custom built by Devon a couple years ago. This is actually my 5th Devon and they have all been killer but this one is truly something else. The specs are below. I had not planned on buying a new bass but my friend contacted me and offered me a trade and I had no choice. You know how it is. Enjoy the photos.

Really nice! Are the pickups more spaced apart than typical or is it just due to the perspective in the pics? Maybe the 24 frets make it look like the neck pickup is closer to the neck than on a typical J.

edit: meant to be a reply to @RussT post #423.

So I was looking at a Roscoe LG3000 on reverb. I have 3 other Roscoe’s and love them. I already have the “Roscoe” sound with my Roscoe 5 with soapbars so the LG3000 is kind of redundant. Although another Roscoe is never a bad thing. That said, I am curious about a Devon passive 4 “jazz” bass that’s on Reverb. I know people have sold off their Roscoe’s, MTD’s, etc after getting a Devon. I’m curious about a Devon passive 4 “jazz” bass that’s on Reverb. Price seems right there with comparable passive 4 string jazz basses. What can the Devon faithful tell me about his passive jazz. Nordstrand hum canceling. HipShot hardware. Seems like a nice passive jazz. What are the necks like?

Hello Devon owners. I have been following devons socials for a long time but never really got down to commiting to one.

I am curious as to how you guys decide on which pickup/preamp combination to go with his basses? Or is there like a "Devon" kind of standard choice / tone thing going on?

For me, I definitely wanted a P+MM configuration. I looked at various luthiers for a while and found Devon to tick all my boxes. I contacted him with my specific idea and we sorted out the rest (woods, etc.) together. Great experience.

Hi all Devon peeps - I took custody of this bass from Devon back in the spring. It was one of his CPO offerings. I can only hope the previous owner was selling to trade up

I'm mainly a 5 string guy but I love a good 4 string Jazz. This Devon's Modern J with a humbucker smack dab in the sweet spot.

It sounds even better than it looks & the playing feel is like a nice pair of broken in redwings

Thanks

This is the first i've ever bought what one would consider a high end bass or guitar - and wow - I'm really blown away by the attention to detail & finish here
I also purchased a CPO Devon, and I absolutely love it. If I would have had the "free funds" at the time, I likely would have snagged that 4-string you picked up, LOL! Alas, the ongoing home improvement project (fairly large addition) has been sucking up the available capital...

But Devon really does a great job of making sure that the CPO instruments totally deliver on the "hand-crafted, top-quality instrument" vibe.

Here is my CPO 5-string, which I just now realized I never posted pictures of... Still loving it!
