Official Devon Bass Club...

Man Steve. That is unreal. I didn’t know that was yours.
Thanks Russ, Devon and I worked through his dye infused tops until we came across this one.
This is actually your fault! lol. I had to go back to the source when I missed out on the purple one that you had.
This one is going to have the Ulyate pick ups with the Nordy 3b preamp.
My other one being built is a quilted top done in deep purple and will have a Musicman Pu and a P pick up. Essentially two work horses that can handle anything thrown my way to lay down the low end.

This my other Devon. Just off to be finished

I know Mr. Smullen is taking a break from accepting orders for a while but as soon as he opens the doors for business again....

I can no longer resist. His work is just too good and the basses he's put out over the last several months have just been jaw dropping.

I'm used to waiting for custom basses to be built but now I have to wait to place and order! Oh well....

Following @scubaduba 's request above, here are finally some soundclips!

I did my best to play the same riff in a consistent way (always plucking around the same spot, etc.), which may not be realistic, but this is only meant to illustrate the different tones you can get with such a P+MM configuration. The pickup selections in order are: P split-soil solo, MM humbucker solo (coils in parallel), MM humbucker solo (series), MM humbucker solo (single coil only, the one closest to the bridge), P+MM (humbucker coils in parallel), P+MM (series), P+MM (single coil). FYI, I played the bass passive, tone knob fully open, recorded straight into my RME Babyface sound interface, only some gain matching in Logic and 1-2 dB of limiting for listening purposes.
