Official Eventide (H9/Factor Series) Settings Thread!!!

AW-T: basic auto wah, it won’t/doesn’t replace my Proton (just like the octaves don’t replace my OC-2) but a nice different flavor. The trick is getting the sensitivity right, so sometimes I tweak this parameter. Expression blends in rotary modulation for an interesting texture

VerbSustain: tweak of Hubble in SpaceTime; reverb with huge sustain when expression is toe down – get a layer going and dis-engage the effect to keep playing over the ambient wash

D-O+: here’s a weird one, I’m not sure which stock patch I modified it from… I use this one as a quick on/off: turn it on, play a note or two, turn it off and let the modulation do it’s thing while I keep playing. Expression can make it more extreme with toe down. This one is for when the jamming gets kinda dark ;-)

Tape Warmth: I borrowed this one from @eloann on the previous page and modified it slightly – this is a really good OD/dirty boost. I added a 6db boost and mapped filter onto the expression: heel down is darker, toe down is brighter - I find the filter range works from about 15ish (brighter) to mid 40s (darker). Really impressed with how well this one holds up and the best dirt I have found in the H9 so far

Mids: a bunch of stuff I use is utility based: here’s a mid boost at 500hz, but with frequency mapped onto expression: heel down is a 150hz boost, and toe down is a 1k boost. Theoretically every value between 150-1k is available with the expression, and you could sweep it too, but in practice these are the 3 frequencies I use this patch for. I have a similar one for hi mids in the 2-5k range. I also have a flat EQ clean boost patch. When you think about it, this box is a fully featured parametric EQ with presets and expression control – pretty bad ass and the possibilities are endless.

Ok, so just getting started with the H9. Haven't even gotten it registered to me yet but the
e-mail has been sent.

Should I just start off using my iPhone to adjust things? There is a lot in the manual, any specific sections I should look at?

You should adjust to bass as the input instrument. But, you can do that with the iphone once it has been updated to a recent firmware version. In the old firmware you had to go in the pedal menu. Also, the updates will give you the new algos.

Ok, yeah it needs to be registered to me first.

Just messing around with the presets on there, there are some wild ones! There was one gurgly, subby filter too it was awesome.

thanks for the quick reply.. I very rarely need a boost but I do need one on my board and I could definitely do with some delay/reverb/mod effects. real tempting...

can I get away with 400ma? or does draw 500ma minimum?

Yeah, its 500ma. It comes with a power supply. I held off from buying one for a long time. Kinda thought it was a super average blues lawyer type pedal. I was very wrong. It does do some nice "regular" tones. But it gets pretty far out as well. I know this is a settings thread. Pardon my brief derail there. I will post some cool pitch stuff that I saved asap.

Every single patch also has an adjustable output level. So you could take any algorithm/effect, set the mix fully dry, and use that for your "clean boost."

On powering the H9, the specs actually say it needs 4.5 W at either 9V or 12V. So that would be 9V 500 mA or 12V 375 mA. I run mine on the 12V 400 mA outlets on my Mondo. However, these are probably conservative/peak numbers, and plenty of people seem to be running them on less, like 9V 400 mA outlets.
