Finished installing the covers on Blackie! I do have a set of Grover Vintage Tuning Machines which I may use on the first string change. View attachment 3750710

So that is what it looks like to have packing in the box!! Mine had like 2 slivers! Maybe 1/20th of this!

What’s your experience with vintage tuners V. standard tuners, Eats?

I grew up in the 60’s/70’s these were the first tuning machines I came in contact with. For some reason my hands prefer turning the keys in reverse. I believe it was the early onslaught of arthritis!

All I can say is Wow! My new Glarry Jazz Bass is Awesome! Just got through jammin on that baby! I ran it through a (cheap $29 behringer BDI21 a poor man’s Sans Amp.) Even with stock Strings and Action higher than I like this bass was a joy to play. Did everything I asked it to. Is it perfect? Why Yes! The price of admission and the fact that it’s a very cool bass makes it so totally worth it. Better and Better

So I picked up a set of piccolo bass strings to try. I’m thinking about throwing them on one of my Glarry’s. Either the P or the J. What do you guys think? Never tried piccolo strings before.

I have a DBI21 that it lives in my buddies studio, I (used to) use it for our weekly live stream to Facebook. (He will be solo until social distancing restrictions are relaxed.)

It's my always on pedal to give a bit of grit so people listening on devices with sub-par bass response can hear me.

Lol, I thought a lot more peeps on here would be quarantined and working from home, but apparently, they’re not. I was figuring there would be a plethora of pics from basses to boredom-lol!

I use a BDI21 when I play bass at Church. It works out well going direct.

My jam partner and I bought GDI21 boxes for Church use, too. Works surprisingly well - tone is adequate, and a lot less grief from older congregants regarding volume. We’re a traditional PCUSA congregation, and baby steps to more modern music forms are required here.

When people say, “If I see drums in the chancel permanently, I’m gone.”, one has to tread lightly.

The older folks dig country, so we rewrite some of that with Church-appropriate lyrics.

My partner wrote “Why Don’t We Sit Down And Pray”. To the tune of Jimmy Buffett’s “Why Don’t We Get Drunk”. When we performed it, half the congregation were doing the Muttley laugh.
