Yeah, looks like yours is a little older than mine. I play mine regularly. But when I say "regularly", that only means it's in my normal rotation. I have 8 electrics, so I alternate them each day. So each one gets played about once per week.
But it used to get played more often when I didn't have so many basses. I did swap out the original pickups for a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 set. They are my very favorite P-Bass pickups. Very vintage-sounding.

Pics of my old Jaguar. Purchased new in 2010 off eBay of all places. Recorded a few things with it then moved it two years later, which kicked off a relentless cycle of GAS and a slew of basses bought and sold over the following 11 years. Turns out it was a really great piece I wouldn't mind having again today.

Coincidentally, during my last in-store bass purchase, a Spector ReBop5 at GC just six months ago, there was a used sunburst Jag for not too bad of a price, but between the two the Spector won out. I’d been looking for an NS style Spector since the time I originally had my Jag, and this particular Jag wasn’t in too good condition and didn’t have the vibe I originally felt. I was definitely surprised to see a Jag there, but it was around the holidays and it was gone the next time I stopped in. Weird how life presents trivial options from time to time. Maybe one day I’ll find a decent Jag of similar vintage again.
Anyway sorry to derail the thread, love seeing all these beautiful MIJ instruments!
I've been looking at the current MIJ Precisions. The specs of several of the "Traditonal" models say the necks are "U shaped", whilst being paired with relatively narrow nuts (eg 40mm / 1.57" for the 70s, 42mm / 1.65" for the 60s)
Does this "U shape" to the neck indicate a depth to the profile that the usual "modern C" profile dont have? I can't find any actual specs for the thicknesses.
If it does, that old fashioned depth combined with the narrower nuts would be very appealing to me, as that's what I'm finding unexpectedly comfortable on my Yamaha BB

I’m game. Bought this PB62 last summer at the height of COVID because I needed a P basses. It’s a a J series from 2015 if I recall my serial nomenclature correctly. Extremely lightweight with pretty decent pots and a very comfortable neck. Its pickup is ceramic and is pretty mid-focused. It still gets a good, chewy tone, but it’s not quite as open as your typical alnico pup. I’ve been thinking of swapping it out for something a little more traditional sounding.
I picked up a 2010 MIJ Fender Jazz ‘75 Reissue in June of 2020. I had been missing my 2003 CIJ Geddy Lee jazz that I sold in 2017.
I made two changes. I added a tort pickguard, and I put in Nordstrand NJ4SE hum-cancelling pickups. I found that the Nordstrands were only a slight change over the stock USA pickups that it came with. I could easily have kept the originals and been happy with them.

It looked like this when I got it. Painted the guard black shortly afterwards.

Minty Japan '62 Olympic White P bass. Aftermarket brown tort guard compliments the aged mellow cream patina.
This beauty started life as a '62 Jazz, Ocean Tortoise. Close to dead mint, and a fantastic playing bass. I'll be dumping the Audere and restoring it back to passive, but with stacked knob array instead of its original 3-knob setup.
I love love love the matching headstock. Beautiful.
My 3 Fenders, all MIJ. The JBS & P are both 80’s E series, the JBS has a EMG GZR set in it, the P is all original, and the necks on both are awesomely comfortable. The Geddy is an early 2000’s CIJ.
You have all probably seen the ad, but my Aerodyne Precision Special is for sale in the classifieds. Comes with a G&G hard case and a gig bag and I'm open to reasonable offers but no trades (unless you have a 33" with split coils of some kind we can discuss). I love this bass and it was my number one (jazz, folk, rock, country) for a few years until I got my Muckelroy 33".

I own a late 90s ‘75 Jazz bass. Beautifully made, however, my one criticism is that the pickups are somewhat lacking in character, they aren’t inspiring. I think about replacing them.
Haven't seen one of these yet. It's a nice playing bass, and sounds great along with acoustic guitars. The sound gets swallowed up by loud electrics. The Lace P-pickup is pretty generic sounding, not much character. The piezos sound good, rich and punchy. It has the aftermarket buffer board installed, which makes a HUGE difference when using the piezo. I've had it for nearly twenty years, but only had a few chances to play it along with other people. I once had a chance to jam with a conga player and a guy with a high-quality electric nylon-string guitar, and the combination of sounds was gorgeous.
Regarding Japanese instruments, I also have a Strat XII, which is really nice; and a Gretsch Tennessee Rose, which is a SPECTACULAR guitar in every respect.

It is identical with the MIJ '51 Precision Reissue besides the Sting inlay and the contoured body. The '51 has a period correct slapboard body, the Sting is kind of a '54 Reissue.
These are incredible good instruments with an ash body. Some users replace the original pickups. I have kept the ones in my '51.
If you plan to play one without a pickguard you should buy a very early one, the later ones have a small hole under the pickguard, not as ugly as the US standard basses, but it is there
