It depends on two things: Made In Japan checks the first box.
The condition is second. Hopefully it’s not modified. $700-$800 is a good price.

This will affect re-sale value. That being said, these are great platforms for upgrades if you get bored.

Well I decided to pick up the FSB. A couple scuffs but in overall pretty clean condition! Still not sure if it’s Japanese made or not
Hi everyone. I bought my first ever bass from a used Japanese goods store. I paid $135 for it. Can anybody tell me about my bass? I've had a look at the Fernandes website but there doesn't seem to be info about this particular model there. I'd like to know what the specs are on this one.
My best educated guess and after doing research here on TalkBass and other sources , I'm going with serial # starting with FG = China , 05=2005

picked up this P style recently. plays pretty nice but neck needs some attention. May become the pj fretless that I have seen in dreams.
Made in Japan printed on the neck plate.
The neck has a pretty nice narrow shaping.
J pup was routed in a couple owners back.

I got two standard Tremor and one Atlas deluxe models - all of them were build in China.
And the Atlas deluxe is passive with a SD pickup. Tremor deluxe models are active with EMG Pickup - total different sound compared to the standard model.
I'm still looking (for years) for a Tony Campos Signature Tremor Deluxe, but no chance in Europe.
Fernandes closed all european trader connections years ago.... and the prices in Japan for used Fernandes basses are ... silly.

- Haven't pulled the neck but it is probably a 90s Fernandes FRB-90 JJ
- Gotoh 510BR round saddle bridge + Gotoh tuners + FGI technology J-style pickups
- Very clean frets , fretboard & neck and it plays very good with a low action

based on the looks your bass model is a 1990s LEB-1 , can't help you with serial number other than serial numbers were just sequential numbers To begin with, they used 0 leading digit for the MIJ guitars, up until 1999 -according to a Fernandes collector

I had the model down from that (without the grafite neck ) in black. I payed $1000 cad for it in 1986. One week later I swapped out the stock pickups for a set of EMG HB (stienburg style) and played it though a trace elliot AH350 head and a 1510 cabinate with the xlr out on the head Most soundmen said it was the best bass sound they ever heard and the chanel on the board was flat. It was my main bass rig for over 20 years.
So, I just today noticed this Fernandes club thread….wondered why my current avatar didn’t appear by it…Come to Daddy!!!
It is On it's way to Oregon.....and I'm very excited....i used to own a Viellette-Citron 8 string back when Cheap Trick were getting started...one of the instruments i most regret selling....

to show the Fernandes 8 string I bought. I’ve had it for 8 years, and really still love it to death!
I also spent 45 minutes or so looking through the Fernandes catalogs website,
trying in vain to locate my bass. If anyone has any knowledge of a model number, year of production,etc,
I’d be most interested to find out more about it.
I was told it was a Gravity model from the 90’s,but I think that may be conjecture.
The only basses I found on the Fernandes site that were labeled Gravity had 2 Jazz style pickups,
Not a PJ like mine.

Also, just in case anyone is interested in this model, there’s one for sale at one of my favorite Bay Area stores, Loud and Clear Music in Cotati, CA.

I'm going with Fernandes APB-8 8-String Bass
- Schaller roller bridge with 19mm spacing,
- Gotoh tuners
- Alder body
- 3-piece maple neck with a brass nut and rosewood fingerboard
- 34" scale length and 24 frets. 1.5" nut width.
- "F.G.I. Technology" P/J pickups + volume + pickup blend control and an active circuit for bass and treble boost.
- MIJ 1997-2000 ?

This describes it to a T. It’s a very light bass, which I love.
I’ve had a new nut cut for it, replaced the original active pickups and active electronics with passive Lace Manowar PJ and matched passive VVTT harness. The gold knobs had to go, with the new American size CTS pots, currently it has 4 Alembic witch hat knobs.
Once I got it set up, it has been an absolute joy to play, and sounds great. (I was not a fan of the OEM active system’s sound.)
