And gig #4 is done!
Stage was really small and elevated about 6' high, the front edge is radiused because it is above the backside of the bar… the bottles of booze were right in front of our feet :) and the floor was kinda gross ;) I guess they can't all be amazing.

It's times like this that I'm super thankful for this tiny, light weight and powerful cab AND my headless… without the headless I would have banged into my mic stand and a TV that was hanging just to the left of my mic stand all night long.

Because of convenience and it works best for me vs just carrying the head. I can easily load in my rack bag, pedal board, bag, bass and cabinet, and I'm ready to go.

My rack bag has my IEM receiver, and Furman power conditioner which I used to plug other things into with a single power cable out to the wall… it's also storage for my XLR and Speakon cables, wireless transmitters for guitar and IEM's… extra batteries, gaff tape, extra power strips, and it's easy to carry with a strap over my shoulder. It works for me, since it is a simple carry with everything I need.

It may not be for others, but that's okay, this works for me :)

What does your gig setup look like?

Picked up the one 800 to go with my AT212 Slim.

Sounds great! Big clean sound, still plenty warm for me. Looking forward to taking this to my future gigs.

Flipping the pure switch on and using the Stomp with different amp blocks is kinda neat too.

I confirm it looks amazing, although the photos on GR Bass website are misleading IMO. It actually looks brown. But it's really gorgious, it looks even better when you stand in front of it than when you look at any photo. The texture of the fiber in particular, the way it responds to the light environment can't be captured by a camera.

I sounds killer too, a perfect uncolored amplification of your instrument and amp.

And it is super loud. My 210 is super loud, so I guess the 212 is even louder, I wouldn't buy 2 if I were you: buy one first, and see if it's enough (buy a second one only if it's not enough).

Be patient, it's worth the wait, you won't be deceived.

[EDIT] I often receive unsollicited compliments, even from people who usually don't care about music gear, like the singers of my vocal band.

I don't have any experience with the D-800. I did have a TT-800 for a brief time, wasn't really my thing, I had a hard time finding a voice that I liked out of it.

To me the GR doesn't really have a unique voice to it like a GK, Ampeg, or Aguilar (all 3 brands which I own and use), but that's kinda the beauty of it. It's really a pretty true representation of what you're putting into it.

It's pretty clean and quick like my GK, but it doesn't do the grindy thing. It has some nice warmth reminiscent of my Aguilar, but none of the wool. Just a good starting point for a bass tone.

So far I'm very happy and impressed with this gear as a gigging rig.

Thanks, I tried the TT800 too and wasn't my thing either, but D800+ is and sounds more transparent and immediate in comparison to my Aguilar TH's. Sounds line it may be similar to the D800+ then, which is a good thing IMO… I see one in my future :)

* The TT800 is a good amp that I could not find a voice I loved. Did you ever try the WD800?
* My GR1x12 is also more generic in voice, like a high end studio monitor.
I have found it mandatory to use a HPF with this cabinet as it will want to boost more very flow freqs. than my Berg. or GB cabinets.
* In regards to GK I think the GR woofer is cleaner / clearer but the tweeter is at a much higher and less desirable frequency than my Berg.

A little bit of carefully placed quality EQ and it sounds beautiful though.

Never tried the WD. Honestly after owning the TT-800 I figured the WD or D-800 were probably a better choice for me.

I can see the 12 getting a little boomy. There's a lot of factors as far as dispersion of a single 12 vs a 212 that's probably a factor.

The 212 has heaps of low end but it's not muddy at all. I don't usually boost by bass frequencies too much anyway, and for me it's not really needed with this set up anyway.

I'm happy with just a little bump of the high and low mids on the amp, bass treble flat, and tweeter is off, bass (5 string that's essentially a dual P pickup configuration) wide open. Sounds great!

Now the real question is who has a GR bass Dual 800? That seems like a real cool 2 amps in one solution.

A question to all GR Bass owners: did you have any experience with GR Bass support? If so, how was it?

I've seen in a few comments that the quality of the support is an important concern for american bassists, especially since GR Bass is an Italian brand, and I understand.

I would like to point out that I have just had an excellent (fast and efficient) experience with their support, and I wonder if other customers have had a comparable or different experience...

@Barticus and others - how would you describe the AT212 vs the slim, sound-wise? Advantages/disadvantages of each?
