No worries man! Enjoy the bassdrive. As someone who cares a lot about education, I just hope your high school has the spare cash.

wow, it just occurred to me that I've never purchased anything on TB. A couple of almost trades, but that's it.

Hi Gang,

It seems y'all are doing way better at buying gear from fellow TBers that I am. I purchased a Bergantino HT210 cab from
SquirrelMaster from here that was advertised as being
in "Great shape". I paid $425 for the cab and had FedEx pick
up and deliver to me.

After I received the cab I tried it out. I was looking for a
reference cab for bass amp work that I do, to compliment
my 1 x 15. Well it didn't sound so good and was getting
some nasty distortion and the cones didn't work right.

I called Jim Bergantino and he advised me about it. He
suggested I have the speaker pulled and then have the
cone pulled out to see if there were creases in the cones.
If they have them, Jim told me the cab had been abused and the speakers had creases on the cones from being overdriven.

See pics here:

At the time Jim also suggested that I contact the seller and
him pay for some of the new speakers that need to be installed.

As you can see from the pics, these speakers are not in great shape. Now, I don't know when the speaker damage occured, but I didn't do and let SquirrelMaster (SM) know this. I also informed
him that he should help pay to get it working properly. That
they are useless to me and it is unplayable because the
speakers are damaged and I cannot use this as a reference
cab.

In all fairness to the guy who sold it to me, he might not have
known they were damaged. However, I have been trying to resolve this for about a month now. I've sent him my phone number plenty of times and suggested we talk about it.

I also asked SM to contact the builder, Jim Bergantino about
it. It appears though that he has not.

I was pissed about 10 days ago and posted a nasty gram in the for sale area. At least now we have a moderator trying to help out.

The last email I received from SM was that he was going to wait and keep talking with his peers and the moderator.

I suggested to him two days ago that I don't want the cab
any more. It is better for everyone if I just get my money back
and he the cab back.

His response was that the cab was unusable therefore
he couldn't give me my money back! That he was still
talking with his peer and the moderator about what
if anything he should do.

Folks, so I'm at a loss. I explained that the cab will work
for him just as it always has. It is unusable to me as a
reference cab because of the speaker damage I discovered
when I received it--I did not damage them.

So, is it unreasonable to ask for refund ?

Send me a money order for the amount and he can have the cab picked up as I did.
or we can do it FOB Dallas, with COD in money order
at his end.

Oh and just recently I bought a used OBP-1 from timv

..... I think that is about it. :scowl:

Dang, I just noticed this thread. Maybe I'm a bit slow (maybe?).

Anyway, I've dealt with a bunch of TB'ers, here's what I remember:

Most recently, I traded a SABDDI for an Ibanez Roadstar with davidmwilson (he got the SABDDI, I got the Roadstar). He described the Roadstar as a "beater", and I guess it is, but I'm sure diggin' it. Smooth deal, except for USPS taking three weeks to get the SABDDI to Mr. Wilson.

Got a GT-6B from Rod B. that I really like.

Swapped Essex necks with Mazinger. Again, no problems.

Lots of others. Always good.

I recently bought a most excellent Walter Woods Ultra from boobinga. He lives only about an hour and a half drive from me so I just went down and picked it up. It was all a great experience and the amp is simply incredible.

What a super guy! He sent me a great high resolution photo and email communication was great.

To the Group -

Check out my rig! I bought the Hartke HA2000 head and the Ampeg BP110 cab from Ryan Morris here on talkbass! (He doesn't have a feedback thread but it was an excellent transaction -- great communication and prompt shipment. I'll do business with him any time!)

It is the perfect practice rig for a newbie and I am digging it majorly!
