Is anyone using the Joyo Taichi pedal on bass? If so, what's your experience been with it? I can't find much feedback about its potential on bass. Thanks.

Got Joyo'd up with this care package from a buddy of mine.
The Splinter is pretty straightforward, but I'm still getting to know the other two.
If memory serves, the Double Thruster is the 4 knob B3K, right? And the Monomyth looks like some of the larger DG offerings, but I've never used them at all. I thought the Splinter was a Muff at first, then maybe a Tube Screamer, but then it hit me - it's a Rat! My TMNT-loving childhood self is annoyed with me, as I'm sure my small child would also be...
But most importantly - how do they sound?
Yes, DT is a 4-knob b3k. Or at least similar.

Monomyth is essentially a DG A/O Ultra.
They all sound good, and I'm enjoying them.
It's just a matter of finding the "sweet spot" for each one.
Hi. I know it's an older post here, but I saw no one answered you.
I've been running the taichi now for several years on my board, and it does what I want for a dirt pedal. It doesn't drop too much low end, and that's important because it doesn't have a blend knob.
I like it's low gain always on kind of setting that sounds like you want a just breaking up gain to sound. I ran it that way for a good long while, but then the cover band I'm in picked up "song 2" by blur and "figured you out" by Nickelback, and I needed to turn up the gain. It handles both fantastically, and I use it more as a dedicated distortion pedal now.
I've had zero issues with it.
I'll admit I'm eyeing the joyo double thrust now, mostly because of the blend knob - but it's nothing the taichi did, I'm just itching for something new. Tbh, I may use the double thrust as an always on, and still use the taichi as a dedicated distortion/boost anyway. Lol.

I own a California Sound, an American Sound, and an Oxford Sound preamp (based on, but not exactly identical to, respectively on Tech 21's California, Blonde and Oxford, character pedals) respectively being analog preamp emulations of a Mesa Boogie, a Fender and an Orange like amps.
I also own no less than 3 Orange Juice, which is a mini pedal, loosely based on the Tech 21 Oxford, that is an Orange amp like drive pedal.
I am not very impressed by the California Sound, but the American Sound sounds amazing for guitar, and I love the Oxford Sound and Orange Juice pedals, making use of the Oxford Sound and 2 of my Orange Juice pedals in my current setup.
The Oxford Sound is part of my always on basic clean tone, dialed in with a medium gain kind of overdrive, and mixed in about equal measurements with "clean" tone, via a Boss LS-2.
One of the two Orange Juice pedals that I use in my current setup is part of my high gain distortion setup, dialed in to deliver a medium gain overdrive, and then mixed in parallel with either a Mosky Black Rat, in turbo RAT mode, with a high gain setting, or the Mosky Black Rat stacked into a Behnringer SF300 Superfuzz at an about 1 (overdirve):3 (high gain distortion/fuzz) ratio, via another Boss LS-2.
The other Orange Juice, dialed in with the exact same settings, functions as my post reverb overdrive, sometimes with a post reverb Metal Zone stacked into it, which makes the distortion of the metal zone a fair deal tighter and grindier sounding.
In the near future I will most likely buy a couple of Joyo Orthros pedals, based on the Boss LS-2.

Joyo Taichi is my favourite bass drive. Great dynamic sensitivity. I like the voice at 9 and gain at 9 and tone at noon. Does like breakup with moderate attack, good rasp when I dig in, and cleans up well. Very tube valve behavior. The upper mids seem boosted in the gain structure and there is hardly any low end loss with the voice knob to the left.
It recieves pedals and pushes pedals nicely. I use it in an always on setting into a Tube Preamp and the Taichi pushing the tube it wonderful gain texture.

I like what I hear, but it seems you're playing quite a bit in the higher register of the bass. How's it do with lower notes? Specifically, 5 strings? My main basses are 5 strings, and one is dropped a whole step.
It handles bass very well, but correct input must be set on a bass guitar. I tried it with 5 basses and only Gibson SG did not clip and distorted when volume on a bass is on full level. -10dB svitch would be great addition.
Yeah, I saw that on the video as well. Did you try any active basses? None of mine are passive. I know that active doesn't necessarily mean a hotter signal, but it often does. This looks like a tempting little amp overall.
Yes. I tried it with MM Stingray, Warwick and Sandberg in active, and Fender, Gibson and Sandberg in passive.
Didn't clip only with Gibson SG bass. All others I needed to cut on volume before going to the amp.
Will know much more when compare it with PJ Nano x$ tomorrow.
I snagged a Double Thruster. Very cool! It nails that modern metal bass tone like a champ. I'm digging it!!
I've debated one as a B3K alternative. Any direct comparison experience? I'm waiting on a Guptech Bassbone, which is a B3K v1 clone, and way back when, that was my favorite and longest-serving OD on the board at nearly a decade. For now, I'm looking at it as an alternate to my MBD-2, and I hear the Guptech is a bit more flexible which sounds good to me. And it has top jacks, which helps for my board!
Not really. I've never played a B3K before. I've been playing a VMT for the last couple years and I love it. I'd been using a YYZ previously and it stopped working so I replaced it with the VMT. I had an Alpha/Omega but I never used it much after the honeymoon was over. lol. It was really easy to get a sweet tone out of this Double Thruster. It's really flexible. That Base Bone is a sick pedal!! They are more expensive than most clone pedals but they kick ass. I really want to check out a Broughton Terraformer.
So you've had a BassBone? Awesome. Can you tell me anything about it. Never knew someone who had one before. It looks promising, and I think I may have it tomorrow. I'm hopeful it can give me a solid "B3K" tone, but different enough from my MBD-2 and trusty old Ibanez PD7 (which is an overlooked gem in my opinion).
How's the noise with it? I love my Joyo Am Sound, but the 'hiss' through it really bothers me.
