Official Joyo Club Part 2: Beyond Thunderclone

Just ordered a Dr. J Sparrow. The YouTube demos and premierguitar.com review convinced me to just click the "buy it now" button at $65. I was hoping to win the bidding at a lower price, but the number of "watchers" doubled today, so I figured why not?

I like having my cab mic'ed, but I don't wanna fuss with soundguys about it anymore so a preamp/DI/dirtbox seems practical to have. Especially so since all my amps are vintage and don't have direct outs on them. My guitar player and I have both been happy with the Joyo pedals we have so I'm expecting to like the Sparrow as well. I gotta say I did prefer the sound of the Behringer clone to the Sansamp in a side-by-side comparison video I saw somewhere on TB, but I don't trust that plastic housing.

The bad news is, I'm gonna be away on tour by the time it gets shipped to me. ;-)

Anybody actually use their UD on guitar? I'm starting to put together a guitar rig and was wanting some sort of thrashy sound, ala Testament, Kreator, or Exodus. Suggestions? (Of any kind, actually. I'm brand spanking new to guitar, but have a Peavey Transtube Supreme head and 412MS cab loaded with Sheffields.)

I cant say i tried it on guitar but since its a clone of an OCD overdrive, i dont think its gonna be what youre looking for.

Go with the American so you can eq it to perfection:)
I've thought of getting the American for a while, actually, so that may happen. Or a Tubescreamer variant (PLENTY of options there!). I found out Gary Holt of Exodus used/uses a Green Rhino (TS based pedal) so I might get that. Exodus has one of the best guitar thrash tones ever in my opinion. But we'll see what happens. I'm in no rush, and am one of those guys who will research the hell out of something before acting. Thanks for the input, guys!

I've used the UD on both bass and guitar (a Gretsch G5426 Jet Club electromatic into an Asdown LB30 (clean setting) with an Ashdown VS112 cab). Really like it in both applications. I find it easy to dial in quite a heavy distortion on guitar that reminds me of the guitar on The Cult's In the clouds:

I find the EQ on the UD to be pretty versatile too, at least for my needs

Received the American yesterday and very much impressed with it so far. Somewhat of a different flavor to my Darkglass VMT and I'm still trying to find out which one I like better for what purposes but it certainly will be staying. Super helpful to have on-board EQ on the American and it sounds fantastic with a flip-top setting on the VT bass DI ahead of it!

Ran the American into my WTDI for the first time at practice tonight. Was using it with an LH500 before. Wow. Clear, punchy, and tons of low end with just a little tweak on the WT. Just the right amount of grit as always. A match made in heaven! This is truly an amazing pedal, and would be at 5 times the cost.

Looks cool but it would mean a bigger board. I'll keep tap dancing for now. Also I would rather give Saturnworks my money for something like that.
Well, duh on the Saturnworks part. But I might need a programmable one.
Also, there is a small one.

"This device works magic and allows you to sound better".

Did Joyo make a magic tone fingers pedal? It comes in purple too. Ya know, if you're into that.
For the Prince cover band I'm starting!

Plus, notice it says: "...allows you to sound better"
Tone may be achieved when Joyo deems you worthy.

Anyone here have any experience with the Joyo PXL series?

This guy talks about it here:

It's actually a shorter video, he's got a much longer set of videos where he really digs into setting them up and the differences in the models (I didn't watch all of this one, but I did watch the whole 4 part thing he did earlier). This how I learned how a looper works. It looks like this could be a pretty decent product.
