I freely admit the bass was injected with banned substances during a return visit to the Lakland factory.

It is a role model (for NASTY)...

Hey ST, two questions for ya.... 1) Are you still digging the Presonus pre, and 2) Is that REALLY a Fender strap clinging to your Lakie? LOL.

Yes, I'm rocking that pre HARD!

Put a NOS tube in it and it sounds as good as anything on the market.

I sold my DB659 (which I dearly loved), if that tells you anything...

and 2) Is that REALLY a Fender strap clinging to your Lakie? LOL.

That how I pay homage to Leo, without whom none of this would be possible.

All my Lakland's have Fender straps on 'em...

I don't know about the Skyline, but a mint US PJ for under $2300? How is that high?
Hi Royce, I'm just catching up to this thread. Regarding pricing, I can't recall a PJ going for more than $2000-$2100 before. Granted, the price for a new one has recently increased 10%, but in a tough environment like this, I wouldn't expect that to carry over to the used market. But hey, I could be wrong.:)

the used market has been all over the place... people are trying to get what they can for their gear. They're asking high and if they get it, good for them. If not, they'll have to bring it down.

The fact that there has been a US JO in great condition on BassGear for a while at 1750 is a tell tale sign that the used market is tough for sellers right now.

Hey gang... Thought I'd share a couple of videos with you that were recorded on a gig back in January with the Leigh Glass Band, a group I play pretty regularly with. For fan-recorded videos, the sound was pretty good. I was using my 44-01 this evening and it sat very well in the mix, as usual. For some reason the overall sound really clicked this evening. This was just through my Eden Nemesis NA320 head and SWR 2x10 cab with nothing in the mains. Room-filling and warm! The drummer rushed the 2nd tune at the start, but I got it back under control later. haha

Greg,
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part in case I sell one of my basses.:help: That Glaub is $800 lower than the price of the same bass new. And you don't have to wait. Saving $800 is good during a recession.

Seriously, I ordered my Laklands just last year and I think the new price increases for the US models are crazy. For example, when I ordered my JS, the ChiSonics weren't an upcharge. So, in addition to the 10% price increase, there is also a pretty steep charge to get the ChiSonics added. It comes to an almost $600 price increase for the same bass in less than a year. In my estimation, this makes the value of good quality used US basses higher.

Maybe my thinking is off, but it seems crazier to order a new US now than to buy a mint condition used one.

Just my opinion. But, I'm still not going to order the Glaub, so you're probably right.:D

Hello Lakland players. I have a 55-02 with the lak pups & pre, but I would like to put original barts pups & pre. Can I order the set from bartolini or Lakland? Thanks.

how bout this one...do any of you string your 5 strings e-a-d-g-c?

i have some strings that i got today and i'm still considering whether or not to do this on the fretted 55-01.

and why is no one here?! i'm gonna have to go look for you on the LOG forum :p

I've strung a 5'er like that before... an old Fender Jazz V. It is very nice if you need it for a soloing or chordal application (jazz trio, etc.), but I found it a bit cumbersome to go back and forth between that and a traditionally strung 5'er. To each their own.

yeah, i'm gonna have to wait until i get something else here to do it. if i can pick up a 44-02, then i won't worry about it, probably.

i think i need to find pickups for my 55-01 that i'm not selling, first, though. It's got the MK1's in it and the fretless has so much more presence that it's kind of spoiled me.

Last I knew, you could get them from Lakland. I had emailed Dan a while back inquiring about this when I was considering swapping out the Bart stuff on my 55-94. They strongly suggest that you send the whole bass in for them to do it, but he seemed to be OK with sending the stuff out too. I never got around to it though.

I'd love t pick up your fretless. Trying to put som cash together. I just bought 2 minty 55-01's in January. Don't know if I can sneak another past the wife. As it is one 55-01 is in the "witness protection program".

those look great on yours...i think i want something more akin to the current knobs that are put on the US series...like the ones that are on the pic at the top of this page.

so when are you going to buy my fretless? :hiding:
