Hey all......geez, you guys are hardcore.....part 13 eh?

I played a skyline Glaub the other day......a used one for just over 5 bills. I was so impressed with the bass...I haven't played a Lakland in a while and this one was really great.

So, does Lakland make a 5 string PJ yet? 34" scale?
The first US BG5 was just posted last week in part 12. I'm sure P/Js can't be far behind. However, Skylines don't have a P/J option (though you could certainly get it done afterwards, of course), and Lakland doesn't offer 34" scale fivers.

ETA: Just over $500 is a great price!

I say go rosewood. It will look like mine colorwise

Nice! Wow, I didn't think I would like tort with teal.

I wasn't necessarily asking about a Skyline.....too bad about the 35" scale on everything. I've never played a J or P bass where that scale length translated into anything other than a more modern sounding P or J. Too much tension on the strings.....and considering you really can get a proper B string with a 34" scale, it doesn't seem to make sense to me with a P or J. Anyhow, thanks for the info.....and if anyone is interested, the Skyline P that I played was at Mr. Music in Allston, MA. Great bass. It put the Fender's that were there to shame.

Some of you remember me asking "has anyone used labella black nylon tapewounds on their HB?"

Well, I got around to ordering some (carvin.com).

They sound really great! They're not a rob allen mouse, but I still like them anyway.

Highly debated and controversial.... My favorite B is the 37" Dingwall, so you can guess where I stand :). 35" is my "comfort compromise", 34 is REALLY pushing it for me.

Yeah, I've had some REALLY nice 34" fivers (Tobias, some high end Yamahas), and some not so nice 34" fivers (Fender, Ibanez), and nothing has had Nearly the sweetness on the B as ANY of the Lakies I've owned. I'm also curious what kind of issues people have with the "extended" scale. I honestly don't notice a difference.

I have a MINT green one too..but that tort is just so classy. I really want a USA Bob Glaub in the future. THinking Fiesta Red w/ tort/RW??
Hell yes, Squid! I'd love to have that combo, we were talking about it sometime in the past couple weeks. Bruce Thomas and Pino!
