the black pearl is cool. Have you tried mint yet?

I realized I like guards with some texture.

Too busy! :( I'll be at the bottom of the "posts per thread" list this time. Oh well, I'M GETTING A HOUSE!!

I took three years off after my divorce, I was burned out on the married/homeowner role, mowing once a week, home maintenance, etc, etc. Anyways, I'll have a music room w/ all my Lakies hanging on the walls. :hyper:

Missed out on buying back my US JO5 from Spencer :(, hope it's going to a good home. That was the most "vintagey" jazz I've ever played, nothing compared. I'll be getting another Fralin-loaded 5er someday.
Congrats on the house, Jedi! Ooh, a separate music room. Very nice.

Black pearl, no doubt. That looks really good.

I love em both!!! Depends on the day, I suppose. Definitely the best of what I've seen on it so far.

I'm going back and forth now:-) The silver-gray pearl does give it a Music Manish combo...which is cool. But black pearl is good too. I'll tka some better photos and get them posted. those are kinda dark.

Yes the black pearl is a looker for sure.
You should also try a Blk/wht/blk on it, looks awesome on Inca Silver, very classy!

I thought of that, but I tend to like some texture in my guards.

Hey guys, don't know if this is the best place to post this question but...

Just wanted to know your opinions of the Plek thing that Lakland does?

The action was kind of high on used US Joe Osborn I just bought so I thought I would put some new strings on it (DR Nickel Lo-Riders 105-45) and do a set up on it. It was a bit buzz'y with the dead strings in came with but after setting it up to Lakland spec (which is pretty close to the same as what I do on my American Standard Jazz) it is really bad. The E string from the 8th to 15th fret is all but unusable and the G is pretty bad from the 9th to 14th fret. Strange enough the A and D are almost perfect The neck relief is fine, even higher that what Lakland recommends so it seems to need a bit of a fret level. I was thinking about taking it up to Lakland to have it Plek'd. Never played a Plek'd bass so I don't really know if it will be worth it but the frets are so small on this thing I would really hate to take it to a local bozo and get it screwed up.

Would be grateful for your opinions.
