Not to make excuses for Levy's--if you guys say their quality has gone way down, that's good enough for me--but these bags cost more than twice as much, maybe 3X. Honestly, at that price, I'd rather have a good hard case. I bought a really solid SKB for $100.

Hm. When I bought mine, the Levy's bag cost $120 CDN, and I got the iGig for $160 CDN-- but that was admittedly second hand. Brand-new it was apparently $190 CDN. Not really twice the price. But then US prices and Canadian ones don't always make sense in relation to one another.

I checked on Mikos bass site, and the model above mine lists for $160 US now, so take off a bit for my model (515, I think they call it).

I get what you're saying about a hard case. I don't like 'em because I have so much stuff to carry to a gig, and I don't drive. But I'd take a hard case over another Levy's bag any day of the week, and twice on a Sunday.

I just got an IGIG 525 and it is a really nice bag....Possibly the best I have ever seen..I am waiting to see how it holds up but it is excellent so far!

Ah, I see. Right now, the Canadian dollar is weaker than it has been: $100 US = $124 CDN.

Sorry, I was wrong--I thought the Levy's bags were only $75, but apparently they're $100 on Lakland's price list. That might be an inflated list price rather than a "real" one, though. Lakland lists the hardshell case for $140, while The Perfect Bass sells it for $110. Ultimately, it doesn't seem like any of us have the concrete data for a straight price comparison. C'est la vie.

Hey guys quick question about the Skyline Decade...

i'm on tour starting mid june and i'm thinking about getting a new bass for it. I'm also updating my rig, but thats another story.

Has anyone played a skyline decade? I was wondering how it plays, and how the neck feels. I absolutely love the way it looks, as well as the sound of the chi-sonics, and the fact that they're coming plek'ed is awesome, but no one near me carries them in-house. it's usually a special order kind of thing.

Right now i'm playing a 60th anniversary p-bass special, and then another p-bass special that I distressed and modded a bit. I also got some bassline spb3 pickups thrown on there :D

so, if anyone has a comparison of the decade vs. the p-bass special, that would be awesome. specifically with the neck. they're both jazz necks, but my modded pbs's neck is exceedingly thin.

i have played and owned both, the neck is a bit thinner on the decade,
and sound of the decade is awesome, you can get a great thick p'ish tone from the neck pickup. if your into slapping it could be tricky with the neck pickup so close to the neck, you have to pop in back of the pickup, sounds great though. the bridge pickup is growl for days. and with both pickups on you get almost a phased effect like the scheff.

of course i am talking about the single coil passive decade though.

greg, or anybody who is wandering.

the prices on the site are list, the dealers sell at a dead on 70%

when i was talking with glen at bass specialties i was getting a price on a 44-02cs and all the prices that he gave me were exactly 70% of what is on the lakland site.

I dont know the exact specs, but it changes the output resistance of the pickups and therefore changes the freq. response. I had it like this in another bass and it was really cool.

Its kinda like adding crystal like highs and tightening up the overall sound. :)
It was a mod made for Billy, but I think you could request one from Bartolini, cost cant be bad at all.
