I'm unsure of what year the bass is from, but I know it's a Glaub (no blocks and matching headstock). On the Lakland site they say that they had custom colors available on skylines in 07. I assumed CAR was a custom color because it isn't available anymore or was it discontinued? Does this mean that BGs that aren't sunburst or black are older?

Hmmmm....interesting! Lakland's CAR is soooo nice!!!!

As far as I know, your last comment is correct....

the serial number will tell you...the first 2 digits are the year of mfg.

Markus- That bass is freaking awesome. I wish you lived in DC so I could check that thing out in person. I just picked up a JO5 that I'm considering putting chis in, but really REALLY want to compare the difference in person first.

I have one as well....the CHIs are different yet "familiar"....more "full" than a std J....listen to the comparison here:

hehe...I think i will start the ordering process in the next couple months. I just sold the 55-02, though, so i will have to get something in the meantime and a sterling HH in pearl white/maple neck is my choice. I'm gonna emulate that 4-94 and try to get some black hardware off a stealth musicman.

what does lakland require to get an order in? can you just do a deposit and then pay the rest over time? what is the initial amount required, percent-wise?

hey HaPpYfAcE, those are some really awesome questions...if i knew the answer, i'd tell you, but maybe one of these chi-cago types can answer it for ya.

Thanks man! Yeah...if you were close, you could definitely do a comparo since I have a standard JO too. Body woods are different though. I think I can tell the differences based on the wood. Love the Chis!

lol...can't do that just yet, but working from home or office designing webpages would be far superior to doing tech support where i'm at now. :rollno:

i've only been at this job for a couple months or just shy of that. lol.

Tech support would be very frustrating for me:-) Do you drink a lot?

I really only design web pages about a 3rd of the time. Mostly print stuff, and packaging these days...
